Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It was a hard choice between 2 options for today’s Mass readings. However, I chose the optional Memorial for St. Callistus, Pope and Martyr. Of course the readings for both liturgies are beautiful Words from God, and I encourage all who have time to read both. We need to listen to God’s Word and DO the Truth we hear from Him, as our Mother Mary did on this earth – She is our Mother and Model who was given to us from His Cross. God knows how much we need her!

Reading 1 (1 Pt 5:1-4)

Beloved: I exhort the presbyters among you, as a fellow presbyter and witness to the sufferings of Christ and one who has a share in the glory to be revealed. Tend the flock of God in your midst, overseeing it not by constraint but willingly, as God would have it, not for shameful profit but eagerly. Do not lord it over those assigned to you, but be examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

Responsorial (Ps 40: 2-11) - “Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.”

Alleluia (Jn 15:15) - “I call you my friends, says the Lord, for I have made known to you all that the Father has told Me.”

Gospel (Lk 22:24-30)

An argument broke out among the Apostles about which of them should be regarded as the greatest. Jesus said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them and those in authority over them are addressed as ‘Benefactors’; but among you it shall not be so.Rather, let the greatest among you be as the youngest, and the leader as the servant. For who is greater: the one seated at table or the one who serves? Is it not the one seated at table? I am among you as the one who serves. It is you who have stood by me in my trials; and I confer a kingdom on you, just as My Father has conferred one on me, that you may eat and drink at My table in my Kingdom; and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel."

Come Holy Spirit, fill us as you filled Mary with Jesus, the Fullness of Truth. Amen.
