I was flippant in my first post because I don't see how everything in the GND is affordable or even practical. Such as the UBI; if we were to give everyone a monthly payment, wouldn't prices just go up?

Oh, I absolutely agree -- most of the GND is not feasible as currently written. But as a bargaining chip, it's quite useful; the Progressives have literally handed the Conservatives a list of things they want... something the Conservatives (if the are wise) will pay attention to when it comes to negotiations on the things they want... like a big honkin' wall, for example?

I hear this from conservatives a lot; and yet almost every conversation involving SNAP is based on this incorrect preconception that most to all of them are lazy and unwilling . so while it's lovely to read I hope to hear that compassion and grace extended always.

No ignorance about chiropractic on my part...I've researched, in depth, many of the various forms of medical quackery.

I know the origins of chiropractic better than most people who claim to advocate it lol

I know the fibromyalgia is the favorite thing to claim you have if you want to fake a disability that exempts you from working...primarily because it's a diagnosis of exclusion (meaning, you get that diagnosis when there's no tangible evidence of an issue from blood work or imaging tests)...and I know I have multiple relatives collecting disability right now on claims of fibromyalgia, though it magically seems to fade in and out depending on the situation.

Chiropractors don’t put anyone on disability. Neither does a private physician. The process to get classified permanently disabled is quite rigid and includes evaluations by professionals contracting with Social Security.

Now you may be confusing that with short term disability policies purchased through ones employer or privately. But these companies (like UNUM) don’t make a profit by paying claims. And private companies won’t hesitate to investigate anyone suspected of faking.
Fibromyalgia: Understand the diagnosis process
Now obviously you don’t have fibromyalgia because you wouldn’t otherwise wax judgmental. Yes, it is a tricky disorder and there always have been malingerers and fakers. That’s not new or worse than ever.

The only minor surgery or illness is the one somebody else has.

BTW I’m no fan of chiropractic or lots of other “alternative” medicines.

Not entirely certain what your point is, but indeed, whether the 10-12 year estimate that is currently out there is totally accurate or not, there WILL come a time when we will be powerless to address the problems just from the stand point of non-equilibrium warming as I discussed at length.

The science of anthropogenic global climate change is pretty durn solid. Right now we are just trying to figure out when we will likely pass the point of no return.

We are in a world where a lot of Americans don't believe evolution occurred, a lot of Americans don't believe the age of the Earth science has shown, and where there is literally a growing flat Earth movement. The disdain for education cultivated by certain political groups has finally born fruit and the rest of us have to deal with Google scientists who have a conclusion and go looking for the evidence no matter how dubious the source.

Well, Donald Trump is manifestly completely unsuitable as President, not just in the sense that he is completely incapable of protecting democracy and the United States of America, but that he is actively working against them. On top of that, the Republican Party is basically just as bad, although most of them tend to be a little less crassly obvious in their hypocritical greed and corruption.

So, to answer your question: we need an awful lot of threads blowing AOC's tiny or indeed imagined faults out of proportion, so that people who voted for Donald Trump can distract themselves from the truths that are screaming in their faces.
