Obama Racism 2016: White Mayor Resigns Over Ape Comments, Doesn't Regret 'Racist Stuff'
A town council in Pennsylvania has accepted the resignation of a Republican mayor following his racist comments against President Barack Obama and the first family. The council of West York unanimously voted to allow Mayor Charles Wasko to step down from his position Monday, the York Daily Record reported.

The resignation will become effective Friday, at which point Democratic Council President Shawn Mauck will fill the position for the remainder of the term. The seat will be available for re-election next year.

Bending to the will of a tyrannical system under the guise of politically correct theater, unfortunate.
Yes. Nothing is more tyrannical than human decency. I'm sorry you have to endure it.

You're right, an elected official expressing racism is being treated wrong when the citizens, considering that his attitudes can lead to unethical and illegal behavior, demand his resignation. They have no right to demand an elected official that does not express racism.

Racism has nothing to do with political correctness.

Tyranny of people speaking out against things they don't like and convincing a public official to resign, how terrible.

Would you be saying the same if it was Obama being forced to resign?

Well, technically he is being forced to resign as he can no longer hold the office after January twenty something.

He is fine doing it as a private citizen, but when he is supposed to be a representative of the people, that is a problem as it is quite obvious that he doesn't represent all of the people.

Considering that West York, PA has multiple ethnic groups, including African Americans, it was best for this man to step down. The people have spoken.

He was likely offered resignation, or termination. He chose resignation. That means when he applies for another job, and they ask "reason for leaving" his last job, he can say "end of contract/term."

Oh wait, this is a political figure... he doesn't apply or seek out jobs like the people he is supposed to represent. He is taking the resignation to save face, and avoid an admission or acknowledgement of guilt.

Good news for the former mayor though, he is now free to post all the racist stuff he wants as a private citizen.

He is free to do it as mayor also. There are just consequences for his actions. He doesn't have to resign; he can endure the political heat of his actions (consequences.) Instead, he chose to evade it, and save himself by resigning (as opposed to a forced termination, or suspension.)

As a private citizen, of course he could troll all he wants. There will still be consequences, however.
