No, I don't think it took a certain type of courage. Looking at her IMDB page, it looks like, aside from the occasional low-budget tv movie, she hasn't done anything besides supporting/ensemble roles in years. She's not a "nobody," but she's pretty close to it.

It doesn't look like she's done a whole lot. I frankly tire of celebrities who spout their opinions as though their opinions are of value because they pretend to be other people for a living (or dribble a basketball etc.) If we had a robust intellectual debate in this country, which we used to have, we wouldn't be looking to entertainers for endorsements and opinions. Sadly, gone are the days of Milton Friedman and Bill Buckley holding court with liberal Intellectuals in a debate. Now we're stuck with inarticulate troglodytes like LaBron James and Colin Kaepernik yapping in one echo chamber and D listers like Neugent and this OC babe yapping in another echo chamber. It's q sad state of affairs.
