The only way we can come together is to realize that God gave each of us the color He wanted us to have; let go of having to apologize for what He decided. We are all from one and all equal in Jehovah's eyes. It would behoove us to trash any 'racial identity' as a basis of merit or lack thereof. All it does is breed division. We are at our best when we see people as brothers and sisters, and look to color as a form of plumage to bring beauty to all humankind... God bless.

The problem us not racism. The problem is all the people labeling everything racist. No one can say or do anything without being called racist. The result is artificial racism. Just saying racist doesn't make it so.

What a horrible thing, especially as Christians here, to put that weight and burden on the shoulders of everybody; even other Christians. Jesus Christ paid the price for sin. He freed us from the bondage of sin. In doing so he unites believers together in Him. Why are we condemning everybody?

If someone has sin in their life, that is for God to deal with in their hearts. Making everybody a racist for simply existing is wrong and I would argue a sin. Just remember that any sin is an offense to God. A thief and liar and a gossiper is just as sinful as racism. It always floors me that people will condemn others for false racism, but make excuses for a pastor that disqualifies himself. There are other examples too.

You didn't read anything I said, did you? Anyway, if average levels of success count, we Asians (note the we, OK? I'm only half white, although that may make a semi-white supremacist, or maybe a light supremacist.) have a better success rate than whites. So if we're talking inherent superiority (which nobody is except you), Asians are obviously Even More Superior than anyone else, and all the white supremacists can just wait in the queue behind us. I think there are massive cultural differences, and some of them crucially importanty in establishing who will succeed and who won't, and I think the evidence is obvious to anyone who is willing to look and who doesn't have an ax to grind. The Far Eastern Confucian-influenced cultures emphasize values that, when embraced give people a head start. It ain't race, or color, or eye shape, or brain size, or any of that crap. It's culture, end statement. Go ahead on with the stupid "it's white supremacism" schtick all you like, all it'll do is leave more generations of non-Asian "people of color" in the lurch. A culture that fosters a 75% illigitimacy rate, and sees one parent, usually fatherless, "families" as acceptable. or even laudable, is dooming its children. Blame who you like, but that is inescapable fact.

I will say one thing though, this isn’t always the best thing. It can burn out the child from a young age.

Agreed. My wife is very old country, and a B was a failing grade. Middle daughter burned out in her junior year in high school and essentially just phoned it in for the second semester. She recovered by the beginning of the next year, and as it turned out it worked to her advantage in a number of respects, but it forever damaged her relationship with her mom.

It has to be balance. I’ve seen some push too hard, be too rigid and it backfires. The kid rebels or just gives up from the pressure cooker.

Too true. But then I look at where my daughters' Asian friends have ended up, and it's simply amazing. Harvard, Yale, Georgetown, Brown, Vandy, doctors, lawyers, engineers, one big-time preacher in Seoul, even one politician (OK, can't win 'em all). None of their parents rich, but all educated, and made sure their kids were as well. Most of them Christians, all of them intact families, all of the parents very present in their lives.

Every child is gifted but they may be gifted in ways that these tiger parents aren’t looking for or haven’t seen (or wish to).

True. My favorite nephew (wife's side) is a mechanic, has his own garage, and is coining money out in SoCa.(truth be told, barring my own kids and grandkids, he and his fam are the only people I'd stop a bullet to protect and call it a fair exchange.)

Apropos of nothing, a very short story you may appreciate. Large daughter was plagued by dimwitted classmates who would come up to her, pull their eyes, stick out their upper teeth, and do the old "Ching chang chong you Chinese haw haw haw haw) and run off. In the 4th grade she had one white boy who was particularly relentless with it. She came to me with her feelings hurt and said she wished he'd stop. That activated my redneck genes, and I told her the next time he did it to hit him as hard as she could. She said that she couldn't do that because she'd get in trouble, I assured her that he'd be the one who got in trouble. The next week he started it again, and apparently she, as we'd say in Tennessee, slapped the tar out of him. He ran off bawling, and was escorted to the office and told to leave other children alone (apparently he was a little jerk in general) and my daughter was petted and hugged by her teacher and told that the little jerk wouldn't bother her anymore. Sometimes the good guys do win. <Laugh>

Sometimes slapping the tarnation out of someone is the only way to get through to them. I don’t condone violence but sometimes people just don’t get it.
