Did you know Jesus only had 3 years to preach his Gospel and he needed to concentrate his efforts on teaching the Jews. ... His statement about being sent only to the lost sheep of Israel was because God's plan was to start his Church with the “Jews first,” and then bring in the gentiles.

Did you know while he was walking around he preached to the Jews, and gave commandments even to present a gift offering like that of Moses to the temple because it was under the law to do so.

So before Jesus Christ had died, the law was still intact?

The law has always remained intact, it has never been faulty. After Christ died we could attain the righteousness that is of the law through the blood of Christ. That is Jesus works His righteousness in us.

i don't think Jesus would ever break the law of God, in Him we wont either.

The law right from the time of the Garden until today has been to put the will of God ahead of the will of man. That has never changed and is what His Gospel of the Kingdom/governance of God was all about. 'Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in Heaven'

The OT Law was in force until Jesus was crucified, although many converts still kept it long after his death.

Jesus never preached the full gospel to the Jews. He began his actual ministry of preaching the kingdom of God to the lost sheep of the house of Israel in Galilee after he left the Jews, just as he said he was instructed to do.

The same gospel of the Kingdom (governance of God over the governance of man) Paul taught.

Acts 19:8 He (Paul) went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the Kingdom of God

Acts 28: 23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. 24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

Acts 28: 30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, 31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Okay, thank you all for your responses.

Was Jesus able to abolish the Old Testament laws, when he died on the cross?

If Jesus was able to abolish the laws, by Himself following them perfectly, what is left for us as Christians to do?

Some people follow certain religions that they try to follow the Old Testament ways, to a T.

Though we aren’t able to hold them fully.

Why do people follow these religious ways and teachings for?

Why do people follow these religious ways and teachings for?

You have believers of religion, who spend all their energy doing it right by will power and you have believers who do it through grace and love.

Those who believe in Jesus through grace, learn to love God and then obey His commandments because love does not seek what is evil but does what is good and rejoices in the truth.

Those who follow religion force heavy burdens on other believers about things that must or must not be done.

Paul warns us about those believers that tie us to works instead of faith in God's love through Jesus Christ.

Faith in God's love really does change the hearts of believers. For God's love living in them does never seek what is wrong but only what is true and right. As the love grows so does the obeying of God's commands grow. Growing in love for God and people is always ready to do good works, but does not consider it that way. Simply what their hearts compel them to do.

Peace.

Seems you're reading this with modern eyes, friend. While today we connect Israel with the Jews exclusively, Jews are only those Israelites who resided in the nation of Judah and so are only composed of 2 of the 12 tribes of Israel, Benjamin and Judah. What of Ephraim and Manassah, what of Naphtali, what of Reuben, what of Gad, what of Simeon, what of Isaacar, what of Zebulun, what of Asher? Let us not speak of Dan. Are these not the lost sheep of Israel?

No, He summed up the 10 commandments in His own 2 commandments.

If Jesus was able to abolish the laws, by Himself following them perfectly, what is left for us as Christians to do?
What He did was bring the Kingdom of God to fruition. The Kingdom is our salvation. You will notice he also demanded we repent... of the self serving ways of man for the ways of the Kingdom that serve others.

Some people follow certain religions that they try to follow the Old Testament ways, to a T.

Though we aren’t able to hold them fully.
An example of that was the Jews of Jesus' time who were looking for a worldly messiah rather than one of God. They were interested in bettering their own kingdoms instead of the Kingdom of God. Following those things to a tee was following the governance of man rather than of God. It'll never work.

Right now the world is being presented to a new worldly messiah that promises to fix all our woes if we willingly agree. Many rabbis and the Pope are on board just like the Jews of Jesus' time would have been., .Never happen as man always ends up offering light before seeking gain at everyone's expense and it turns to oppression.

He didn't abolish the law (the 10) ....

Matthew 5:17
Berean Literal Bible
Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish, but to fulfill (make full).

He magnified the law .... taught in depth about them ... gave us more details about them.

Why would He abolish the law .... there is nothing wrong with them they are ... perfect ... holy.... righteous ... good. There is something wrong with us .... sin .... what is sin?
Transgression of the law .... He sends His Holy Spirit to help us overcome our sin ... it is a life-long process .. we will mess up here and there ... but He will finish His work.*

Romans 7:12

Berean Study Bible
So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous, and good.

Psalm 40:8
I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

* Philippians 1:6
English Standard Version
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

About Matthew 5:17, why does Jesus mention "the prophets?" How would one "abolish the prophets?" In the sense you seem to be reading it the removal of the law would fit with "abolish the law," but it seems the addition of the prophets makes that reading problematic. Another possible read is that Jesus was using "the law or the prophets" in another commonly used sense, that being to refer to the books rather than their contents.

Once again thank you for the responses.

There is just one more question I have.

“Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:12-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What is verse 14 referring to, what are the hand written ordanices?

Sin is the transgression of the law. He became a curse for us. The curse of the law was nailed to the cross.

The written law that condemned us, that opposed us. I take it to mean the entire yoke of the law.

If Jesus did not remove the penalty, the full force of the law, then we all die. It's as simple as that.

Matthew 22:37-40
And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 Upon these two commandments hang the whole Law and the Prophets.”

Galatians 5:14
The entire Law is fulfilled in a single decree: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

hope this helps !!!
