If you listen to what the actual locals are saying, those pics aren’t representative of what’s actually happening here.

Why do I have to keep repeating things? My English is pretty good and I check what I've written before I hit Reply. So yet again...I highlighted what you'd said:

I highlighted the part that was of interest. I've even bolded it this time so that you can't miss it. And then went on to say:

'He lied to you again. And you keep on accepting it. Why? These farcical statements by Trump (which he repeated at least a half dozen times in one interview) barely rise to the level of fantasy.'

How on earth is it possible not to follow those two simple sentences? Those farcical statement are Trumps. I'm pretty sure that you didn't personally travel to L.A. and investigate the monstrously ridiculous possibility that this was all paid for by some shadowy organisation. It was Trump who lied to you about it. And you simply accept it. He'll tell you literally anything and you'll believe it. I honestly don't understand it...I've never come across anything like this to this extent. It's truly astonishing.

Is it beyond your comprehension that ordinary people are frustrated and angry at what is happening? Is it beyond your understanding that Trump's actions were actually designed to get the reaction that we had? Do you not grasp that he is the cause of all this? His total disregard for due process and his reckless disdain for the constitution is what is pushing people to protest.

that was my exact point, the second two are clearly the same thing, first was harder to tell because of the fire, but car had same spray paint.

A federal appeals court has preserved President Donald Trump’s ability to deploy the National Guard to Los Angeles, blocking for at least a few days a judge’s order that found the call-up illegal and unconstitutional.

I wouldn't get excited. The stay was originally set pending an appeal due by 7 p.m. on June 13, 2025. That an appeal was going to be made was a given. What is of note is that it actually was a 'stay pending appeal' and not an 'administrative appeal', which would have been given had the court decided that there were reasonable grounds that it might be overturned. This was not done because, as per the court documents: 'An administrative stay is unnecessary and unwarranted in light of the district court’s extensive reasoning'.

That will be taken into account by the appeals court. Which of course can still decide either way. Of course, you might support the appeals court to allow the use of the National Guard and the Marines. In which case I'm sure you'll have something to say to your grandkids when they ask you: 'Where were you during the great 'Los Angeles Rebellion of '25, grandad?' (aka The Square Mile Rebellion)

This is what troubles me the most.
Such a large number of citizens of the United States are on board with incoherent nonsense as long as it seems to protect their own persona self interest.

It’s the ‘screw you I got mine’ American psychology. This is why sometimes you only see pro- progressive issue opinions in some conservatives when it affects themselves; it has only then became important.

Which echoes Trump’s common refrain of ‘no one knew X was a complicated thing till it affected me; before then it was a simple issue with simple solutions’.
