  1. Welcome to Christian Forums, a forum to discuss Christianity in a friendly surrounding.

Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.
  7. There has been an addition to the announcement regarding unacceptable nick names. The phrase "Let's go Brandon" actually stands for a profanity and will be seen as a violation of the profanity rule in the future.

Not trying to be controversial here but...

You sound like me before I married my ex. Seriously. You are essentially rescuing this guy. That is dangerous and codependent behavior. I can say that b/c I've done it myself. I won't go on too much here, but feel free to PM me if you want.

Schmoe, I love your posts because they're all laced with common sense.

And I appreciate that you post it here with the Agnostic symbol in your prof because it reminds me that what we have in common is that we're guys, and I agree with alot of what you say because it's right, not because we're both reciting what we were told in church.

it's truth, not just blind faith, and I can get my head around that.

    easy...first off, its illegal.

secondly, its introducing himself into a culture that is not good. do you want to be a part of that culture, the drug culture because by you being with him, you in turn get put into that drug culture.

thirdly, it risks the problem of drug dependency. its quite true that pot isn't physically addictive, but what i find funny is, you ask any pot smoker to stop smoking pot as they tell you it isn't physically addicting, they don't. after my 3-day DUI class, and learning about that drug as well, now i'm not saying i know it all, but i'm convinced there is the mental addiction aspect to it, and every stoner proves it. they don't stop or if they do, its like every other addict stopping something...it takes something big and bad to wake them up.

i'd have to say, if you as a Christian can see yourself marrying a druggie, get on your knees and pray about that. something isn't right about that and i mean that with respect to you. you don't want to be a part of the drug culture because of love. my family was ruined by drugs. specifically pot. my childhood memories have pot plants being grown in basement of the childhood home in it. you don't want to risk setting yourself up for that, or setting up the idea of children with that.

Theres nothing great about smoking marijuana. You smoke it, it relaxes you and sometimes you get kinda paranoid. Nothing that bad really, honestly alcohol is a much worse drug. I've seen alcohol ruin many more lives, harm and kill many more people.

All that marijuana does to you is make you lazy, hungry and sleepy. People who do smoke it, usually do it to relax.

Strait up, alcohol (abuse) can be MUCH worse than marijuana, as are most prescription drugs when abused (especially opiates), cocaine, etc... Marijuana is a pretty mild drug. It does make you lazy and relaxed though. Most hardcore pot users simply are too lazy to do anything.

But anyhow, anything that alters your mind can't be good for you...

I think anyone could see thast the long term affects of drugs, and the long term affects of excercise are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

I mean, completely ignore that fact that excercise IMPROVES your body, but in order to get that high from running, or to get that high from lifting, we have to EARN it. It takes me about an hour of repeated failuire to wear myself down with weights.

In order for me to get that high from karate, I had to fight for it until I had nothing left, and then I'd just lay there in a pool of sweat, feeling it.

Drugs are a shortcut, in the same way pornography is a shortcut to building an actual relationship. I can't put my finger on the one final reason it's bad but the answer is in there.

So really, in alot of ways my beef with getting high artificially is the same as my beef with aolt of things, the user doesn't have what it takes to do what I did.

then again maybe I'm just an ego maniac and I want my success to come from myself.

plus, based on an epiphony I had at church today.

with each generation "getting worse" (meaning, my parents had to walk uphill in the snow blah blah blah...

if we lower our standards of acceptance, we can expect our kids to take it one step further.

We shouldn't make the right descisions for just ourselves, but also for who's coming next.

I agree with whoever said run.
My high school was pot central. The people that did it back then are seriously messed up today and if i run into them around town; i can barely carry on a conversation with them.
I don't know if this is true or not, but a teacher of mine said this in one of my classes when she was ticked off at some kid that was probably high: smoking pot will store bad things in the fatty tissues of your body, especially i n the reproductive area. So if you do it on a regular basis and then have a baby later on; you put your kid at risk of having problems or birth defects. Like I said i don't know if that's true but i'm teaching a poplulation where pot use is probably very high and i've seen lots of kids that have tons of trouble with either attention disorders or trouble with processing skills.

there's nothing great about it, smoking weed is for low-lifes and losers who would rather kill a few brain-cells instead of living a meaningful life.

ok, here is what I have to say

    I HATE marijuanna!

Growing up, both my parents were addicted to it. Now my dad still is. I've never completly known who my dad "really" is my entire life because he's always been stoned. 3 out of 4 of my brothers have been addicted to it for many years, as well my 2 sisters. Pretty much all my uncles and aunts on my dads side (his siblings) have also been addicted to it (or used it recreationally....whatever!)

This is a HUGE sore spot for me. I will not JUDGE you for using it. But I will NOT encourage it either. I do not agree with smoking it nor do I believe it is good for you or any of that nonsense people try and sell you as an excuse.

If I liked a guy or was dating a guy and I found out he smoked pot(first of all I wouldnt date him in the first place if he smoked pot) but anyways, this is one of my NUMBER ONE deal breakers.....hed be gone like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! would i give him a chance to quit? .....Not WHILE dating him, thats for sure....its not as easy to quit as that. I've seen people try. You have to really want to for yourself and believe that you dont want that a part of your lifestyle any more. So yea if they were doing that before I met them, I'm not going to stick around and try to change them, I'm GONE! I am not apologizing if that sounds harsh because its pretty black and white in my mind

I honestly dont think this guy is worth your time gottabe...if he cant find a way to escape his problems, relax.....WHATEVER without smoking pot..........he is NOT the kind of material you want to to weave together your life with...........unless you want the cloth to have huge holes in it.

p.s. Though pot is illegal where I live in Vancouver. Its soo common...there are even stores dedicated to it. Its practically impossible to actually keep under control. Every where you go you smell the stuff. It's extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemly common here.

    I'm done.

I agree !! I knew several really intelligent people who smoked it in highschool. It wreaked havoc on their grades eventually though. I would say the general population of potheads are low lifes, from my perspective atleast.
