Could it be considered "mostly" peaceful?

Absolutely not! Hundreds of people stormed the Capitol violently with the intent to commit murder and other acts of violence..

I agree, but I also think the 2020 riots were totally violent, even though the media and others try painting another picture.

...They broke into and destroyed stores, setting fires, etc.

That has nothing to do with the OP's subject. There have been violent riots throughout US history, but storming the Capitol to violently disrupt the confirmation of the electoral college votes is unprecedented.

As my mother used to say, "two wrongs don't make a right".

And thosands who were present did not. So statistically it was mostly peaceful.

Do you have any verification of this?

It wasn't "mostly peaceful"; it was extremely violent.

Um, you didn't see the footage of thosands of mostly Trump supporters in Washington that day and understand that only hundreds actually went into the capital?

Actually not true. There's been other attempts at breaching the capital.

I know, I just want to understand if there's some intelligence or logic I'm not grasping why all those on on one side are violent, but on the other side they're not, even though the actions seem similar in nature.

No I didn't see that. I saw trump inflaming the crowd with his rhetoric and encouraging them to go down Pennsylvania Avenue and "fight like hell". It doesn't matter of some didn't actually participate, the mob action originated because of him.

Nobody is claiming that "all those on on one side are violent, but on the other side they're not". That is a meaningless distortion.

What action do you equate with mobs storming the Capitol of the United States while Congress is in session confirming the votes that elect the President? This was clearly an attempt on the peaceful transition of power.

No other activity matches that heinous crime against our country!!

Yes, during the Civil War. Why are you defending this murderous attempt to overthrow the election???
Nope not just during the civil war
Puerto Rican nationalists smuggled guns into the Capitol and opened fire in 1954.
Five congressmen were injured in the shooting.

Two Capitol police officers were fatally shot on July 24, 1998, by a mentally ill man.

Where did I defend breaching the capital?

You wrote, " I'm not grasping why all those on on one side are violent, but on the other side they're not, even though the actions seem similar in nature." You're implying that breaching the Capitol was just another demonstration, but it wasn't. By any stretch of the imagination.

The subject here is the riot at the capitol--not the rally preceding it.

With the exception of the demagogue speaking, the rally was probably mostly peaceful.

The people who decided to follow the demagogues invitation to march to the capitol weren't.
