Please tell us why in your first post why Crenshaw was allegedly smeared.
I didn't see the smear you claim is there. The video shows exactly what was reported.
It wasn't as explicit as the article makes it out to be, and he was trying to ditch them with the "member's only" talk, but it's a stretch to call that "hiding." He pushed the button with the guy already in the lift, and he tolerated them forcing a ride with him, despite how rude it was for them to do so. Then there's the clear jump cut once the rest of the crew forced their way onto the elevator and he starts pointing out the hypocrisy of how they claimed they wanted a conversation but really just wanted to film him ignoring their aggressive questions. The whole time, he never shows any stress on his face. (Why would he? He looks like he still stays in shape, and I can't say that for his interrogators.)From the link:
They berated Crenshaw tediously in this vein for several minutes, even after he allowed a few of them to ride down with him in the “members only” elevator. Let's pause here to remember that Newsweek accused Crenshaw explicitly of trying to hide in an elevator — inviting the protesters to ride along with him is a funny way of "hiding." The activists continued to implore the congressman to do his “duty” and eventually gave up as he went on his way. That is the entire interaction.

Since that is the subject of the thread, figured it should be linked here.
Whether he was trying to hide is debatable. Going into that particular elevator was a way to get away from the camera, if not one of the vets.
Did he try to hide?
