For starters, white Christians no longer make up majority of nation

A major new survey on the religious beliefs of Americans is out, and the Public Religion Research Institute sees a "dramatic transformation" taking place across the country. Two big takeaways from the 2016 survey of 101,000 people: White Christians no longer make up a majority of Americans, with their percentage now at 43%, down from 81% in 1976; and fewer than half of US states have a majority population of white Christians.

I could care less about the so call white Christians, what I care about is true Christians of any race or color. I do not care anything about Americanism masquerading as Christianity.

This is only confirming what the observant have noticed for a long time (i.e. years). It has been blatantly obvious to me for a long time that most people (white or anything else) in America aren't Christians. They're secular deists at best.

Yeah, the Young Turks put out a video cheering this and that white Christians' time is almost up.

Interestingly, I believe that China will be the largest Christian nation by 2050. It was in an article by the Economist. Atheism is on the decline world wide.

About 17% of Americans are white evangelical Protestant, down from 23% in 2006.
When it comes to these kind of surveys you have to pay attention to how the questions are asked. Evangelicals make up about 1/3 of the US population, and yes it's on the decline. Christianity, it must be remembered, is a matter of conviction.

I would say that a great many people are functionally pagans.

Pay close attention to how people talk about "chance" or "the environment" or "science" or "the economy." Then run through those sentences with those terms replaced by "Fortuna," "Gaea," "Athena" and "Hermes."

Someone may object as say that while people discuss such things in a highly personified way, that they are still recognized as natural forces. But that's precisely what gods were in pagan societies: personifications of natural forces.

Those who are truly born of God/genuine believers are few in number, yet it's not hard to find many "nominal" (in name only) Christians in America or elsewhere.

The only reason they'd toss "white" in there is trying to show a bias already against a certain group. I'm curious on how many Christians, disregarding their race as that doesn't matter to me.

I also wonder on the accuracy of polls, since I'm never polled myself and wonder who is? They miss a lot of Christians with their "major new surveys"
