Hi there, I am a young adult male from Denmark. I was raised in a Christian family, and has been one ever since. Like the title suggests, I came here to have a single question answered. I might stay or lurk a bit around the forums afterwards, but for now the question remains my top priority here.

The question itself surrounds the topic of the unpardonable sin. It is a bit of a personal struggle that I have been dealing with for the past 2-3 years now, so I would assume "Requests for Christian Advice" would be the most suitable place to ask that question? I will go into more detail there. Or perhaps there is a chance it would not be suitable, because it could possibly spark debate (seems like the sin has many different interpretations, from what I can gather)

I hope the moderators or the admins can direct me to the correct place to ask the question.

Thanks either way.

Welcome! Depending on the nature of the question Requests for Christian Advice or General Theology would probably be the best place. I will say that this is a rather common question, so you will find many threads in both of those forums about this; there are also similar threads in the "Prayer Wall" from people looking for prayer, but not advice.

Thank you very much! I was thinking of perhaps making a new thread so I could also tackle the more personal aspect of it. Judging by what I've read on the sin, I don't think I've necessarily committed it, but there's sometimes these very sudden and rapid 'blasphemic' thoughts that appear out of nowhere, and I might want to ask how to get rid of such thoughts.

I think I'll lurk around the threads on the topic of the sin, and if it doesn't satisfy me, I might ask myself.

Thanks for the help regardless!

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

When people have stubborn sins the things I've read on the matter suggests fasting and praying helps greatly. I do believe certain obstacles are put in our way to prevent us on our journey from coming loser to GOD the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Just out of curiosity have you had any dealings with the occult, even a small amount? If you have I was suggest finding specialist knowledge on the subject but still continue with regular fasting and prayer.

Peace be with all those in the body of Christ

God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,

Truly we are hear to serve and not to be served

Hi Jellingstenen07.
Welcome to the forums :). You might find it helpful to post in the Christian Advice section where you will get more answers and support to your question.
I would like to encourage you by telling you that I do not think you have committed the unpardonable sin. It is the Holy Spirit that convicts us of sin, and the purpose of conviction of sin is always to lead us to repentance. Any person who recognises their need for God's forgiveness and repents can always have assurance that they will be forgiven.
I don't think you would be coming here asking for help if you had committed that sin.

The only unpardonable sin is rejecting Jesus Christ. As humans we have all sinned and even after accepting Jesus as the Lord of our life and repenting of our sins we have to deal with sinful dark thoughts that come from our old nature and our spiritual enemies. We must not dwell on those thoughts but cast them out by the renewing of our mind with the Word of God, aka the Bible, recognizing we need the savior moment by moment, day by day and turning to Him humbly asking for guidance and direction. It is a process for us to learn to do His will, that is the Father's, not ours and Jesus was the only one able to do that perfectly. We all fall short of that standard in both thought and deed however we have been sealed with salvation and so are secure as He holds us to Himself.
Our heavenly Father wants us in a relationship with His Son Jesus Christ, seeking Him constantly as we make our way through this world with the hope of the next which will be our permanent home with Jesus.
May God bless you and strengthen you on your journey in Jesus name.

PLEASE READ WITH ALL YOUR HEART WHEN YOU HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO REFLECT

Hello, i will advice you to hear the sermons of Leonard Ravenhill on "repentance", "the bride prepared" and other sermons. We can have the "wish" and "will" to stop sinning but unless we make a conscious and firm decision to die to our sins in the death of Jesus Christ and live in His resurrection power (that is, believing that He did not only die but resurrected) we might end up living our lives with an unaccomplished "will" to "stop sinning". For this we need to

1. Acknowledge that there are sins in our lives.
2. Know (list) them and decide what we want to do about them.
3. Do we really want to get rid of these?
This is the point where we realise if we are "willing whatever cost it makes" to live a life of repentance.
4. Always pray and seek God vehemently to help us live a life which pleases Him (to glorify Him) and to stop sinning.
5. While doing the above start replacing bad habits with good habits.
Christian life requires discipline in all things (praying, sleeping, working, eating, etc) and self-denial.
If you live with the purpose of following Christ, you will suddenly see that other things are no distraction to you anymore since you are disciplined and have an aim at hand. If you set your mind on Christ and on the things that are above and discipline yourself and crucify your flesh [put your fleshly desires (gluttony, love of materials, sexual immorality) under subordination], you will also see that this is the battle in the Christian life (because the flesh and the spirit fight against teach other) and you will be more focused on Christ.
The flesh and the spirit fight against each other because our spirit wants to follow Christ but our flesh (old man) refuses to die with Jesus on the cross and therefore how can the new man come if the old has not died?
Jesus gave the parable in Luke 5:36-39 kjv

36 And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.

37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.

38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.

39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

This is the reason why you find it difficult to stop sinning. You are used to your old lifestyle or sinful nature (vs. 39).

No matter what many people tell you, it is still YOUR DECISION to renounce your old nature and follow Christ.

Even Jesus himself said REPENT. No one can be forced to, but all must make a choice.

Joshua said to the unrepenting Israelites (in the book of Joshua 24:15 kjv) who followed other gods just like we follow the world, its ways and its sins:

15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

So what is your decision?
You can have all the WILL and WISHES in the world but unless you make a decision and stand firm, repentance will be difficult.

Stay blessed, think and pray about it.
