Satan is mad. He blames the Jews because Lord Jesus came through the Jews, the tribe of Judah, and Lord Jesus has handily defeated him.

This does not make any sense. Why would satan attack Jews who do not believe in Jesus and killed Jesus?

Jesus said to Jews that satan is their father because they do not believe in Him.

Every shooting is a tragedy, but let us not make some wild theological hypothesis from it.

Last week, some man shot 7 dead in a local hospital here. He was white, they were white. Does it mean that satan is mad on white people?

You mean the people who wholesale rejected the Messiah and then later instigated the first major persecution of the Church? Is that who you're talking about?

Somehow, I doubt Satan has anything against them.

Maybe so.

But I'll go out on a limb and suggest that he probably hates them the least.

Given the level of persecution Jews have endured for the last thousand years, and how that has (reasonably) repelled them from the church, I have a hard time believing that.

???

You do realize that the earliest Christians were subjected to vigorous persecution from the Jews, even before the Romans began persecuting Christians, right? James the Just was one the Jews martyred, for example.

But even aside from that, Rome made exception for the Jews and allowed them exemption from emperor worship. Because at least 99% of Jews would refuse and the Roman governor was unwilling to kill that many of them (as would've been required under Roman law). And Christianity was originally regarded by Rome to be a branch of Judaism and so the Church was likewise exempted from emperor worship.

However, the Jews successfully disassociated Christians from Judaism as far as the Roman government was concerned. Thus, Christians were forced to worship the emperor or die. Many chose martyrdom, as you know.

The Jews and nobody else caused that. Obviously, the Church survived that persecution but the Christians remembered that tens of thousands of their members were martyred at the behest of the Jews. And they obviously were not very happy about that. And yet, somehow the Jews think they're the victims when they're the ones who started all this trouble.

It's reasonable to say that the Jews who rejected Jesus started the rivalry with the church. But consider this: Did they do that on their own, or did the devil tempt their leaders into it? The level of blasphemy and the level of irrationality to their persecution of the early church would best be explained IMO as deceptions from Satan himself. And if he did that, he had a purpose to it - keeping them out of the church. Yes, he also had the purpose of snuffing out the church or at least keeping it as small as possible (that failed), but if he took the time to deceive their leaders and plant specifically anti-Christian lies within their religious tradition, he has to hate them very much.

We can't know for sure. So does it even matter? All we know is they did it. God can judge their culpability.

Yes, it does matter. Because you are saying Satan doesn't have anything against the Jews today, or that he hates them the least, and you are using what those particular Jewish leaders did 2000 years ago as evidence. What Jewish leaders did to the early church was wrong. What was done to Jews for hundreds of years by those who confessed Christ was wrong. What these gunman did at that supermarket is wrong. Satan's work is in each of these.

Or maybe you mean the people to whom the Gospel was given first, who's line Jesus was brought into, the same people who constituted all of the disciples, where the early church came from, who Jesus considered himself of, and who in the future will have the hardening in part that God put on them lifted and accept Jesus as their Messiah and return to God (meaning they originally belonged to him) ? Those people ? Be careful not to write off a people that God has clearly stated he has not.

I see Rome as having vast responsibility for that, was it the Jews forcing them to worship the emperor or die ?. Who cares what Rome thought after Jesus had walked amongst us.

Totally agree. He's still the same when it comes to the Jews because they still have a key role in bible prophecy ! He's angry with what he knows he can't win against.

You’re right. Who needs history and study? We already know what we believe, let’s not confuse anyone with the facts.

You're misunderstanding me. I meant as believers in Jesus, Rome has no authority on such matters, and neither did it back then. It is and was meaningless if it counters Jesus instruction, never said it wasn't worth knowing or studying ;-)
