I think this phone if made for folks much older the 50. I'm 50+ and used rotary phones growing up, but was so happy to use button phones from the early 80s onward.

My dad has a touchtone phone after stroke damage. He can not use a smart phone or computer anymore due to memory loss. He uses a walker in his assisted living building.

The converse of this is the motel scene in the movie "In and out", where Matt Dillon's character leaves his girlfriend in the room and tells her to order room service. It's a dial phone and she cluelessly pokes at the numbers with her finger.
