PRAY WITH NEW BELIEVER SHAMED, BEATEN, ARRESTED BY PARENTS
June 2, 2019 by Lindy Lowry in Prayer updates
Our field is requesting prayer for Amira*, a sister from a Muslim background from Kyrgyzstan. Amira is from a small village in the northern part of the country. Two years ago, she went to the city to work where she met some Christians who told her about Jesus. She trusted Christ with her life and began to attend a church and serve there.
When her parents learned that Amira had become a Christian, they were angry.
“You are a shame and a disgrace to the family,” they told her.
Some time ago, they asked her to come back home to “visit the family,” but when Amira came they beat her, tried to force her to reconvert to Islam and put her under house arrest. They also planned to force her to marry a Muslim man.
Amira was able to escape and went back to her church in the city. For her safety, the leaders of her church sent her to another big city. Amira loves her parents and relatives, but she can’t return to her home, for fear of being beaten being forced to marry.
Please, pray for Amira, pray for her safety, and pray that God will protect her from being forced into marriage. Pray also for Amira’s relatives and parents, that God will soften their hearts and that they, too, might come to believe in Christ.
