I'm a big Kaiju/Mecha fan and the second Pacific Rim movie was pretty campy.

But I have to say, the Netflix series was one of the best things I have seen in a long, long time. Super super character driven - it's a slow build, but man it's great. You do not have to be a Kaiju fan to love this anime. They did some really thoughtful stuff with the "world" of Pacific Rim and the tech of the Drift and used it to drive the story and the characters along.

I love the Pacific Rim movies, I heard about this anime, but I have not seen it. I may have to check it out now, thanks.

Yeah, there was a very strong theme of the value of family throughout it as well. Definitely some scary stuff at points especially in season 2, but nothing too gratuitous for the sake of gratuity, nothing sexuality focused. Didn't miss it a bit, just a darn good story that made me care more about more of the characters than I expected to
