Need some prayers- my cat is dying.

I went to the vet today and he has cancer in his kidneys. It also spread into his spinal cord and/or brain making him closer and closer to being totally paralyzed.


Please pray that I have the strength for this. I have had him for about 9 years and there will never be a cat like him ever. One of my best friends.

This post made me cry holyorders because I have such a strong love for my cat. He is 13 and I worry all the time that he is getting up in age. I am SO sorry that your cat is so ill. I pray that the Lord gives you strength on this tough road ahead. May I suggest a novena to Saint Francis? He was a lover of animals and his intercession might help you & your cat. I wish I could help ease your pain because as an animal lover myself, I cannot imagine. My thoughts and prayers go out to you & to little Daniel.

I am so, so sorry holyorders. I have a cat too, and she means the world to me. I will be praying for you and Daniel. Is there anything the vet can do to help, to make him more comfortable?

I am so sorry to hear this...I too am an animal lover, I have two cats that I love dearly. I lost my beloved Charlie Brown (He was a little dog), back in April...it is hard, and you will never replace him, but the hurt is replaced by loving, happy memories. You and Daniel are certainly in our prayers!

It is very hard to say goodbye to such a dear friend. Over the years, I have lost 3 beloved cats. 2 of them lived to be 14 years old. Believe it or not, I still have dreams about them, very nice dreams. They will always be a part of me, and Daniel will always be a part of you.

For what it's worth, I lost a dear pet last year and the first thing I did was ask our Blessed Mother for guidence. It was actually the first time I really asked her for anything. If anyone knows what it's like to watch a loved on die, it's her.

Also know that pets are wonderful gifts created by God to make us happy. Thank God for the nine years that Daniel gave you and know that one day God will make you just as happy again.

UPDATE:

Eventually I had to put my furry friend to sleep. As he was passing he was getting infested with very gross smaller animals (trying to keep this sanitary). He was in intense pain.


I am still grieving, I don't know how long it will take.

holyorders, I am so sorry you have lost your furry friend. It is hard to let them go, but I am proud of you that you had the strength and wisdom to know when it was the right time for him and to save him from further suffering.

I have had to make the same choices myself with my own loved pets and it hurts a lot.

Your Daniel was a lucky cat, he had a loving home for all those years, a lot of cats never experience that.

Is it ever easy?

Just today my kids went to school for their 1st day back...and I cried my eyes out because I had time to remember Justice my pup.

My heart breaks for you...because losing our beloved animal friends is never easy....in fact it is very hard.


I am so sorry hon... And I said a prayer for your kitty to St Francis.

I feel for you holyorders as I had to have my cat put to sleep 3 years ago and it was very painful. However I now have 2 other cats who have brought great joy to my life (though I'll never forget Suki). When you feel ready for it perhaps you could get another pet as there are lots of animals out there who desperately need loving homes.
