 I am terribly sad. I love my husband dearly. We have been fighting really bad for the past 2 years. We've always had disagreements, but for the past 2 years we have had boxing ring type fights. No physical abuse involved, just full-blown screaming (sometimes cursing) at each other. I have 2 children, 7YO boy & 3YO girl and I hate so much that they hear us. They repeat what we say and ask us why we fight, etc. My husband and I fight once a week or more like this. We have really tried hard to stop it. I pray and he says he prays about it. I honestly don't know what to do. I don't want my children growing up in this, he says the same, but we go back to the same old routine. I feel he blows everything I do out of proportion and makes it bigger than it seems and I think he is jealous. We are both Christians and want to raise our children in a Christian home, but it seems the devil jumps on my back when we start arguing and next thing I know I am cussing and screaming at my husband and he does the same. I want to be married to him, but not to live like this the rest of my life! :help:

We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?

I am praying for ya too..

Have either of you considered or brought up going to a Christian family therapist? It seems like maybe a unattached third party might help clear up some of your issues. It also seems like both of you want the marriage to survive, which is good!

Give God your sadness, your bad feelings, and your marriage. He can heal it all.

    :)

ECAEP STNAW, E-beth is correct, you MUST seek Christian counseling. My husband and I are Christian and we have been married for almost 28 years-lol-, and we used to fight just like you and your husband are doing now. We could not solve the problems on our own, so I started going to a counselor and soon my husband joined me in counseling. You will be surprised how much you will learn and grow in just a few weeks!

But make sure your counselor truely is Christian. And tell them UP FRONT that you do NOT want a divorce! The first so-called Christian counselor I went to told me at our first appointment to get a divorce. I walked out and looked for another counselor. I finally found this sweet elderly lady that was like a grandmother. My husband and I both respected her and trusted her and she saved our marriage. Our sessions began with prayer and ended with prayer.

God can and will heal your marriage. Also, do this: Both you and your husband, get down on your knees and hold hands and pray together.

I agree with previous posters...get Christian counseling. Go see your pastor, and if he he can't give you the help you need for whatever reason, maybe he can point you towards someone who can. Also, keep praying!

For what it's worth, I went in for some marriage counseling, and I don't have the faintest idea whether the counselor was Christian, but she knew her stuff, and she was very helpful. We said we didn't want a divorce, and she didn't try to change our minds on that at all.

Your chances may well be better with Christian, but if someone recommends a really good counselor, who happens not to be Christian, don't ignore the possibility that that'd be the right counselor for you.

Disclaimer: I'm not a counselor, etcetera etcetera.

That said: What kinds of things do you fight about? Are they things you could write down, and exchange letters about? My wife and I used to take all our worst fights to email, but paper letters work too.

Often, if you find yourself "escalating" a fight that shouldn't be that big a deal, it's because something that *is* a big deal isn't getting confronted head-on. See if there are things your husband does that annoy you... and, if you really want to make progress, try to find out what, if anything, you do that annoys *him* - and see if you can stop it.

Anyway, my prayers are with you.

"Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word (or live it!), they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives....For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her master. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear ." 1 Peter 3:1-2, 5-6

I am not Othniel, but his wife...

I suggest each morning you go to God in a prayer of thanksgiving for your husband, find at least one thing about your husband that you can focus on and praise God for. Each day, no matter how busy you are, set time aside to go to God's Word, prayerfully that He might open your heart to the specific instructions He has for your situation. A husband is a blessed gift to a woman, and wives are called to honor and respect them even when they don't "seem" to deserve it. The best way to begin respecting and honoring one's husband is to act in such a way towards him and eventually God will turn this action into genuine devotion
You may want to talk to your husband and ask him if he thinks it would be a good idea for you two to seek Christian counseling together or if he is opposed to this idea, ask him if you may do so on your own. Another option is to seek out a book on marital communciation founded on Biblical principles.

In everything, remember that God is with you and will use this situation to strengthen your faith if you continue to seek His guidence.

We'll be praying for you.

In His abiding arms of peace,
    <><
