North Dakota company gets $400M border wall contract after support from Trump

A North Dakota company received a $400 million border wall contract after President Trump advocated for the firm.

Fisher Sand and Gravel Co. will build 31 miles of border barrier along the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge in Yuma County, Ariz., according to a Defense Department statement. The deadline for its completion is Dec. 30, 2020.
Oh goody, this is just the family business that we should be giving our tax dollars to.

The High Plains Reader has documented environmental violations and tax evasion by the company, including 169 citations and paying $1 million in air quality violation fines in Maricopa County, Arizona over the past 10 years.

In 2009 Michael Fisher, then-owner of Fisher, pled guilty to nine counts of felony tax fraud, [5] being sentenced to 37 months in prison and over $300,000 in restitution. The comptroller also pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States in 2009.

Another former head of the company, David William Fisher, pled guilty in 2005 to child inappropriate contentography and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.[1] He was released on April 30, 2010.[6]

...and that $400,000,000 is coming from Mexico, right? Because I could have sworn someone promised they were the ones paying for the entire huge cement wall.

That would be nice but,
if not well worth the price for US taxpayers to pay.
Saving a lot of money and grief in the long run.
Trump is most excellent at saving US monies.

Apparently not, since he swore repeatedly that Mexico was going to pay for the wall and now he wants American taxpayers to pay instead. And? Americas deficit has climbed to over $1,000,000,000+. US deficit estimated to hit $1 trillion for 2020, CBO says - CNNPolitics
The Congressional Budget Office raised its estimate of the projected federal budget deficit Wednesday and is now predicting that the deficit will reach $960 billion for the 2019 fiscal year, which ends on September 30, and reach $1 trillion for the 2020 fiscal year.

The CBO had previously estimated a $896 billion deficit for 2019 and $892 billion for 2020.
The Treasury Department reported earlier this month that the US budget deficit has already hit $867 billion for the first 10 months of the fiscal year, an increase of 27% over this time last year.
"The nation's fiscal outlook is challenging," said Phill Swagel, director of the CBO. "Federal debt, which is already high by historical standards, is on an unstainable course, projected to rise even higher after 2029 because of the aging of the population, growth in per capita spending on health care and rising interest costs."

So A) President Trump said Mexico is going to pay for the wall (they aren't)
and
B) he promised to eliminate the federal debt if he was elected. (he didn't/isn't/wont)
tulc(just thought those facts should be pointed out)

When did Trump (swear) that?
Trump promised to eliminate the deficit in eight years. So far, he has increased it by 68%
During the 2016 campaign, President Donald Trump made an aggressive promise on federal finances: He would eliminate the budget deficit within eight years. Now, three years into his presidency, the deficit is 68 percent higher than when he started.

Trump inherited a deficit of $585 billion when he took office in January 2017. That was 58 percent lower than the $1.4 trillion former President Barack Obama inherited in 2009 following the financial crisis, a number his administration slashed over two terms.

According to the latest Congressional Budget Office data released on Monday, the full-year deficit for 2019 is estimated to come in at $984 billion, just shy of the $1 trillion that many analysts were expecting. In 2018 the figure was $779 billion and in 2017 it was $665 billion.

By the way? That's not even sort of what he promised. But I can see why you'd want to push that particular Republican talking point. I mean, who wants to admit every single person who said "Mexico is never going to pay for the wall." was right? And President Trump was just saying something his base wanted to hear/believe whether it was true or not? :sorry:
tulc(almost feels sorry for the people who have to spin and spin to try and pretend what President Trump says is even sort of true) :tutu:

It ain't over until it's over.

Trump will probably have four more years to work on that.
Or he wont.

These things take time.
he's had almost 3 years in office, and increasing it about 68% hardly sounds like he has any plan/idea on what he's doing.

Especially with such a lack of support.

M-Bob
so...when his Party had control of the Executive Branch, the Senate and the House for the first two years he was in office but all he got done was get a big tax cut for the 1%, that didn't tell you all you needed to know about "the wall" and "eliminating the deficit"?
tulc(is just curious) :sorry:

450 miles to be completed by 2020.

It's a replacement of an old wall that was already there, right? By that logic, could you sell an old goat as being a "new goat" if you gave it a haircut and died it's wool?

I believe that the story states there are several hundreds of miles of new wall coming soon?

Yes and plenty has already been replaced.
They did a nice job here in San Diego.

Thank you President Trump.

I'd rather pay for a wall than vote for someone who supports murdering over a half million unborn children per year.

Know what I like? I like that posts like this show how bottom of the barrel President Trump supporters must feel if the only way they can find to "support" him is to change the subject. But since this thread isn't actually about abortion and that appears to be what you'd like to discuss, you should probably start a thread about that in the proper forum where it can be discussed there.
tulc(just a suggestion) :)

No, what it says it someone is supposed to be paid a lot of money to build a wall. No one's actually building it. There's a difference. President Trump is pretty famous for saying things...not so much for doing things.

Hmmm, that's roughly $13,000,000 per mile. Ridiculous!!!!
