[Jesusong]What's a naturist?
People who enjoy leisure pursuits with no clothes on. Ever seen those grainy old films of old people playing tennis or swimming with no clothes on?

Anyone who admits to being a naturist will tell you that it has absolutely no sexual connotations attached to it whatsoever. They sincerely enjoy spending time with like-minded folk who like to do "normal" things, except with no clothes on.

It's not for me personally I would be far to embarrassed to go naked in front of people

But if Christians were geniune about their naturism then I see no problem because ultimately the whole issue equating nakedness with sex is something only certain cultures and tribes do. If you see documentaries about countries in South America or parts of Africa then naturism is the norm. Here in our so-called civilised western developed world, it's largely frowned upon or for those of us a little bit more immature, giggled at..

A Christian nudist colony. That’s a thought. We could call it Cellulite City!!

Actually, I just discovered, there are pages on the internet devoted to the subject. Like this news report:

HUDSON, Fla. - Piles of trash, dirty lakes, racist property deeds and pedophiles living nearby have not deterred one man's dream of creating a Christian-themed nudist community.

Bill Martin has purchased about 240 acres of land about 30 miles outside Tampa for a little more than $1.6 million, much of it on the site of an old nudist colony that had fallen into disrepair, which he and his business partners hope to transform into a modern-day Garden of Eden.

"The Bible very clearly states that when Adam and Eve were in right with God, they were naked," said David Blood, executive director of the project.

I have a hard time believing any red-blooded American male would say there is no sexual connotation. That is him being a normal American male. If a naked woman { decent looking of course } stands in front of me there is only one 'normal' thing my brain is thinking about!!!!:D That would be natural, or at least in my culture. Of course what is natural isn't always right, but still!!!

I call total bs on the subject. Them folks aren't right in the head or something. You can bet no one will be packing Viagra along for the week-end at the nudist colony!!!

The ignorance of some people. If they were so right, why did they run and hide from God in shame of their nakedness????

I want to make it clear I am NOT defending Naturists activity, however here is the reasoning I've heard behind this:

When they WERE right with God, they were naked and unashamed. They became ashamed after they ate from the forbidden tree. The thought is that since Jesus brought us back to right standing with God then we should also return to the lifestyle THEY enjoyed before the fall.

Q, I think that what would prevent us from disrobing, is that our flesh has not been changed yet, so there will be a conciousness about it to a certain degree for most people. I can't see all the Apostles even though they knew the truth, that Christ brought us back to innocense went without clothes.. or did Jesus when He reappeared after the resurrection. It would be rather distracting to say the least.

Yep, we are restored to God, I completely agree. However, we still live in a fallen world. A fallen world that is perverted and has perverted natural human sexuality.

We approaced God through the Law before Christ as well. Does that mean we go back to stoning adulters?

The Apostle Paul talks about folks who introduce false teachings and entering into homes leading people astray. Again, this complete and utter nonsense. You get me one honest male to say he isn't tempted to lust at nudist camp and I will by your story.

You know, men can't hardly go to Wal-Mart without being tempted by lust, I don't see how you could resist with the exposed 'goods' all around him. Just not buying this bit.

I have a friend who's into this...thats why I'm asking. Of course it a topic I've yet to see in this forum yet. Hey! We needed something diff to talk about other than speaking in tongues ;)

The idea is that it's only a distraction because most people treat it as a taboo thing to do (run naked). For instance if one grows up in this type of environment then they are use to seeing "the goods" as 9-Iron put it so they are not distracted to lust. Seems off base to me too though.

So what, if anything does the Bible say about it?

I've always wondered to, do they really not have a conscious about it?. or are they just wanting to push the envelope alittle. Make a statement about freedom etc..

:D As I said, growing up in the enviro or not, you find me a red-blooded male that wouldn't have a serious problem with lust at a nudist camp. LOL!!!

Only a fool would go a nudist colony. They are decieving themselves with the lust of the world. We are not to be yoked with world and in Christian circles this is becoming more and more prevelant. This is just a prime example of the pervesion of the world we let in. Then try hard to justify it.

When they were right with God, they were COVERED in His glory. That is the same glory that Moses glowed with, to a much less extent. When Adam and Eve's eyes were opened, the glory had been removed far from them and they realized they were naked. When people start glowing again with God's glory, I'll be the first to take off my clothes.

No one yet has given any scripture  is there any scripture to show it's not a right thing to do?

You know as well as I that there is very little scriptural support for either way. But if we go by Genesis 3:7

Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
This was the unadulterated, unperverted response to the realization of nakedness, being fallen, and being without glory. To not cover ourselves is to deny that man has fallen, that man is in sin, and is without God's glory.

"I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes..." 1 Tim 2:9

So, if women are to dress modestly, I would guess that they are suppose to dress! And that would be enough scriptural support for me to extend it to men also!
