National Sunday Law
01-07-18, 02:35 AM
The National Sunday Law is one of the five landmark
events of the last days. They are as follows:
(1) The beginning of the investigative judgment in
1844, as Jesus and the Father pass from the first
to the second apartment of the heavenly Sanctuary
to begin the final atonement. (2) The National Sunday
Law (which marks the setting up of the image to
the beast and the start of several other events which
we will soon discuss) include the marking and sealing,
the passing of the investigative judgment to the
cases of the living, the blotting out of sin experience,
the marriage, the latter rain, and loud cry. (3) The
general close of probation, when the four winds are
loosed and the plagues begin to fall. (4) The sounding
of the Voice of God which delivers God’s people
from the oppressive power of the world. (5) The Second
Advent of Jesus Christ, at which time His faithful
ones are taken to heaven, the wicked are slain,
and Satan is bound to this planet for a thousand
years.
The National Sunday Law is especially important;
for it jump-starts so many crucial final events.
We are now in the last days, and have been there
for over a century. But when this Sunday law is
enacted by the U.S. federal government, the Final
Crisis will begin.
One interesting point should be mentioned:
Earlier blue (Sunday) laws in the U.S. forbade work
on Sunday, but frequently permitted public entertainments,
such as sports events. The Spirit of
Prophecy specifically says that the National Sunday
Law will include a no-work and public-worship
requirement. But it may also include a proviso permitting
public entertainments (such as football, baseball,
boxing matches, and auto racing). We are not
told that this will happen; but it would be a clever
device to enlist public approval of the law in this
way: Go to church in the morning and spend the
afternoon in frolic while permitting such things as
beer sales but closing down ordinary businesses.
- 1-
IMPORTANCE OF THIS EVENT
This is a subject that we need to understand.
“The fearful judgments denounced against the
worship of the beast and his image should lead all
to a diligent study of the prophecies to learn what
the mark of the beast is and how they are to avoid
receiving it.”—Great Controversy, 594:2.
The Sunday law is inevitable.
“Sooner or later Sunday laws will be passed.”—
Last Day Events, 128:4.
THE OBJECTIVE
1 - It will be some type of U.S. federal enactment.
“Our land is in jeopardy. The time is drawing on
when its legislators shall so abjure the principles of
Protestantism as to give countenance to Romish apostasy.
The people for whom God has so marvelously
wrought, strengthening them to throw off the galling
yoke of ******, will by a national act give vigor to
the corrupt faith of Rome, and thus arouse the tyranny
which only waits for a touch to start again into
cruelty and despotism.”—4 Spirit of Prophecy, 410.
2 - A law.
“A more decided effort will be made to exalt the
false sabbath and to cast contempt upon God Himself
by supplanting the day He has blessed and sanctified.
This false sabbath is to be enforced by an
oppressive law.”—7 Bible Commentary, 985/1:1.
3 - A decree.
“By the decree enforcing the institution of the
papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation
will disconnect herself fully from righteousness.”—
5 Testimonies, 451:1.
4 - An amendment to the Constitution.
“We see that efforts are being made to restrict
our religious liberties. The Sunday question is now
assuming large proportions. An amendment to
our Constitution is being urged in Congress, and
when it is obtained, oppression must follow.”—Review,
December 18, 1888.
5 - A religious amendment to the Constitution.
“If the people can be led to favor a Sunday law,
then the clergy intend to exert their united influence
— CHAPTER 2 —
THE
NATIONAL SUNDAY LAW
31
to obtain a religious amendment to the Constitution
and compel the nation to keep Sunday.”—Review
Extra, December 24, 1889.
IT WILL DESTROY
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
1 - It will bring religious liberty to an end.
“The law of God, through the agency of Satan, is
to be made void. In our land of boasted freedom,
religious liberty will come to an end. The contest
will be decided over the Sabbath question,
which will agitate the whole world.”—Evangelism,
236:3.
2 - It will revive tyranny.
“Protestants will throw their whole influence
and strength on the side of the Papacy. By a national
act enforcing the false sabbath, they will give
life and vigor to the corrupt faith of Rome, reviving
her tyranny and oppression of conscience.”—Maranatha,
179:2.
3 - Men will be compelled to obey.
“A great crisis awaits the people of God. Very
soon our nation will attempt to enforce upon all
the observance of the first day of the week as a sacred
day. In doing this, they will not scruple to
compel men against the voice of their own conscience
to observe the day the nation declares to be
the Sabbath.”—Last Day Events, 144:2.
SABBATHKEEPERS WILL BE
OPPOSED AND HATED
1 - The faithful will fight the battle against
great national powers.
“Seventh-day Adventists will fight the battle
over the seventh-day Sabbath. The authorities in
the United States and in other countries will rise up
in their pride and power and make laws to restrict
religious liberty.”—Last Day Events, 144:3.
2 - They will be hated for their position.
“Soon the Sunday laws will be enforced, and men
in positions of trust will be embittered against
the little handful of God’s commandment-keeping
people.”—4 Manuscript Releases, 279:0.
- 2 -
THE TIMING OF
THE NATIONAL SUNDAY LAW
It is not possible to set a date for the occurrence
of this event, nor to determine time spans
leading to or away from it. There will be no tracing
of definite time after 1844 (7 BC 971); for time setting
is not a test after 1844 (EW 75, 1T 409). See
our tract study, It’s No Time for Time Excitement
[PG 21], for many quotations on this.
- 3 -
LAMB-LIKE BEAST
INSTITUTES THE
NATIONAL SUNDAY LAW
The lamb-like beast of Revelation 13 represents
a persecuting power (TM 117). It symbolizes Protestant
America (GC 445), the United States of
America (GC 440-441, 445; SR 381-382). This beast
will make Sunday observance the test; and, in so
doing, it will enforce the worship of the papacy (GC
445). The symbol of the lamb-like beast “which
speaks as a dragon” will not apply to the U.S. until
the National Sunday Law is enacted.
U.S. enactment of the Sunday law will produce
(1) an image to the beast, (2) the worship of the
papacy, and (3) begin the placement of the mark.
“The prophecy of Revelation 13 declares that the
power represented by the beast with lamb-like
horns shall cause ‘the earth and them which dwell
therein’ to worship the papacy—there symbolized
by the beast ‘like unto a leopard.’ The beast with
two horns is also to say ‘to them that dwell on the
earth, that they should make an image to the
beast’; and, furthermore, it is to command all, ‘both
small and great, rich and poor, free and bond,’ to
receive ‘the mark of the beast.’ It has been shown
that the United States is the power represented by
the beast with lamb-like horns, and this prophecy
will be fulfilled when the United States shall enforce
Sunday observance, which Rome claims
as the special acknowledgment of her supremacy.
But, in this homage to the papacy, the
United States will not be alone. The influence of Rome
in the countries that once acknowledged her dominion
is still far from being destroyed. And prophecy
foretells a restoration of her power.”—Great Controversy,
578:3-579:0.
- 4 -
ENACTMENT OF
THE NATIONAL SUNDAY LAW
BRINGS WORSHIP OF
THE LEOPARD BEAST
The leopard-like beast of Revelation 13 represents
the papacy (GC 443, 445). This beast is worshiped
in the act of violating God’s law by keeping
Sunday sacred (TM 133). Efforts to tear down Sabbath
observance distinguish the worship of the
beast (GC 446). A decree will be made enforcing
the worship of the beast (5T 525). Enforcement of
Sunday observance will be equivalent to worshiping
the beast (GC 448-449). This worship will be enforced
on pain of persecution and death (5T 752).
2 - THE NATIONAL SUNDAY LAW
32 THE END OF TIME
1 - The decree will require the worship of the
beast.
“The decree shall go forth requiring all to worship
the beast and his image.”—5 Testimonies,
525:2.
2 - That first beast is the papacy.
“In [Revelation] chapter 13 (verses 1-10) is described
another beast, ‘like unto a leopard,’ to
which the dragon gave ‘his power, and his seat, and
great authority.’ This symbol, as most Protestants
have believed, represents the papacy, which succeeded
to the power and seat and authority once
held by the ancient Roman empire . .
“This prophecy, which is nearly identical with
the description of the little horn of Daniel 7, unquestionably
points to the papacy.”—Great Controversy,
439:1.
3 - The second beast will cause men to worship
the first beast.
“The prophecy of Revelation 13 declares that
the power represented by the beast with lamblike
horns shall cause ‘the earth and them which
dwell therein’ to worship the papacy there symbolized
by the beast ‘like unto a leopard.’ ”—Great
Controversy, 578:3.
4 - The decree will require that men worship
the beast and receive the mark.
“The decree has been passed by the highest
earthly authority that they shall worship the
beast and receive his mark under pain of persecution
and death. May God help His people now, for
what can they then do in such a fearful conflict without
His assistance!”—5 Testimonies, 213:0.
5 - Characteristically, the beast breaks the
commandments.
“The special characteristic of the beast, and
therefore of his image, is the breaking of God’s
commandments.”—Great Controversy, 446:1.
6 - In contrast to those who worship the
beast, there will be those who will not worship
the beast; for they will not be hallowing the firstday
of the week. They will be keeping God’s commandments.
“John was called to behold a people distinct
from those who worship the beast or his image by
keeping the first day of the week. The observance
of this day is the mark of the beast.”—Testimonies
to Ministers, 133:1.
7 - The worship of the beast, mentioned in
the third angel’s solemn warning, is the opposite
of obedience to God’s commandments.
“After the warning against the worship of the
beast and his image, the prophecy declares: ‘Here
are they that keep the commandments of God, and
the faith of Jesus.’ Since those who keep God’s commandments
are thus placed in contrast with
those that worship the beast and his image and
receive his mark, it follows that the keeping of
God’s law, on the one hand, and its violation, on
the other, will make the distinction between the
worshipers of God and the worshipers of the
beast.”—Great Controversy, 446:0.
8 - It will be the enforcement of the false sabbath.
People will be required to keep it as “a sacred
day.”
“A great crisis awaits the people of God. Very
soon our nation will attempt to enforce upon all,
the observance of the first day of the week as
a sacred day. In doing this, they will not scruple
to compel men against the voice of their own conscience
to observe the day the nation declares to be
the Sabbath.”—Review Extra, December 11, 1888.
9 - When the law of God is made void by the
legislature, then the sins of Babylon will have
reached unto heaven.
“When do her sins reach unto heaven [Revelation
18:2-5]? When the law of God is finally made
void by legislation.”—Last Day Events, 198:5.
- 5 -
SUNDAY LAW DECREE
IS THE WORSHIP OF THE BEAST
AND HIS IMAGE AND BRINGS
THE MARK OF THE BEAST
1 - The decree requires the worship of the beast
and the receiving of his mark.
“This small remnant, unable to defend themselves
in the deadly conflict with the powers of earth
that are marshaled by the dragon host, make God
their defense. The decree has been passed by
the highest earthly authority that they shall
worship the beast and receive his mark under pain
of persecution and death.”—5 Testimonies, 213:0.

"In the Greco-Roman world, property such as animals, slaves, criminals, and later soldiers carried these marks(Branding). Recruits to the Roman army were most likely tattooed(Branded) on the hand with the abbreviated name of the emperor, whereas criminals and slaves were marked on the forehead with their offense"(Gerhard Kittel and Gerhard Friedrich, Theological Dictionary of the New Testament, vol.7, trans. The OP is from a book called The National Sunday Law. I thought that I put a reference to it in the OP. I had to truncate the post because it was too long.

No doubt about the truncation.

Congratulations on the 1492 posts.

I'll take a snapshot:

RxsvEZc.jpg

In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. There were four blood moons and God was opening up a brand new continent. It would become the "earth" who helped the woman. A flood was spewing forth from the dragon's mouth but with the help of men like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson a holy place, the "earth", would be made ready to help the woman after 1260 years of papal persecution came to an end in 1798. The first nation on the planet complete with a "Bible belt" was to be born when it was previously illegal to be caught with one.

In 1776 America was founded and would become a safe place for God's people to own, print and study their Bibles. Prior to this in the dark ages of Europe, entire villages of Christian men, women and children had none of these religious freedoms and were burnt at the stake more often than not for reading or owning their own Bibles.

This was the dragon chasing the woman and these estimated 75 million or more Christian martyrs would become the 5th seal souls beneath the alter. Lucifer was the hand that used the early church like a glove which hit the woman very hard during the middle ages. The founding fathers of the USA made sure that church and state were separate, America! America! God shed His grace on thee.

After the sudden world wide devastation caused by the first four trumpets, the entire world will know that the God of the Bible has returned. The survivors will work quickly to enact emergency legislation to appease God with the intention of making these judgements stop. Their ill fated solution, which you think of as a "National Sunday Law", will actually have a much longer arm and sharper teeth and will become what we now know as the mark of the beast.

Because these judgements will fall on the entire planet, the thought will be that the entire planet must cooperate with the rule. No need to fear a "National Sunday Law". But be on red alert for the Global Sunday Law which will come as a snare on all the inhabitants of the whole earth.

We're evidently talking the SDA teaching that not keeping the Sabbath on the correct day is the mark of the beast.

I watched a video on that once and they stretched scripture so tightly in order to draw the conclusion ...it broke. :)

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

I actually agree with most of the SDA teaching on the mark of the beast.

Three times in Revelation's narrative we read:

"And the dragon was enraged at the woman, and went to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. - Revelation 12:17

"Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. - Revelation 14:12

"Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.- Revelation 22:14

Three times in Revelation's end time scenario we are told to:

Keep the commandments.

Keep the commandments.

Do his commandments.

And at the 7th trumpet:

"Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.

What's inside the ark of His covenant? You guessed it, the Commandments.

I might see a cute girl walk by and then sin in my heart. It's like a knee jerk reaction. But keeping the 7th day Sabbath is a very physical type of a thing to do. I can't accidentally break it in my mind. I either have to plan to keep it, or plan to break it. Every week.

I believe that it will be the end time test commandment. What I disagree with is that the USA is the second beast that rises from the earth. The USA is actually the "earth" who helped the woman and a "place" that was prepared by God in 1798. And by default that made her a "holy" place.

The really bad news is that the "earth" from chapter 12 is the same "earth" in chapter 13 where the second beast will rise from. He is our end time Antichrist, the same "beast" that will rise from the bottomless pit to kill the two witnesses..

Bummer.

Bummer.

Unless I missed it, you didn't address the part of my post on some keeping a different day as the sabbath. That alone puts an end to it. And don't want to debate that. Already turned it every which way and my conclusion is, the bible is clear people have their own days of worship.

And why do you choose that particular commandment when it means all of them?

And if those don't do it, then there is the most simple reason that is not true. Read the following scripture to see what the mark of the beast is exactly, and in order to buy and sell, we must have one of three things. That is, a "mark", either in ones forehead or their hand, and there is no reason to believe this is not a physical mark but I would guess some will try to make that out of it. Or it is "the number of of his name". Saturday worship is not a mark on the hand or forehead...nor is it the number of his name...that simple.

15The second beast was permitted to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image would also speak and cause all who refused to worship it to be killed. 16And the second beast required all people small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, 17so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark—the name of the beast or the number of its name.…

Last I heard, not all SDA's subscribe to that either. For others, listen to the following vid, and see how this guy stretches things to the max in order to come up with this. I can do as he does and grab something from here and there out of the bible and claim they all go together, then make anything in the bible mean just about anything, but that won't make it so..

Don't forget that we are instructed as to what a beast represents in prophesy... a kingdom. Rev 7:17

We also know that in prophesy, the seas represent peoples, multitudes, nations and tongues which would represent the old world. Rev 17:15. So the land (wilderness) indicates a sparsely populated place.

Also, the second beast that has two horns but no crowns represents the US to a T. It was established upon two principles, Republicanism and Protestantism and was without a king.

Just the feel of that scripture, and how he goes into detail here...

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

...explaining something to them that would not be necessary at all, if all he was dong is telling them not to worry about the heathen, and their judging them. I mean why would he go into "let every man be persuaded in his own mind" if he wasn't actually telling them people have different ways of doing things? Makes no sense he wiould put it the way he does if what you say is true. In short, he's telling them what to do, and not to not worry about the heathens judgment.

Sounds like you are believing some bad info there, but will give benefit of the doubt for the moment and ask that you explain/prove your claim, and tell me where you get that idea from, instead of just telling me it's so.

Also, since you are SDA, are you on board with what the OP is saying?

In the beginning of this chapter to the Colossians, we read this;

In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

In chapter 1 and verse 23 we read;
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

Paul was preaching the faith that was grounded and settled in the gospels, the teachings of Christ. Jesus never preached another day than the Sabbath.

In answer to your question of the seemingly contradictory statement of esteeming a day, Paul was saying to these newly established Christians not to be beguiled or persuaded against what Christ taught, of which Paul was a minister. The heathens/gentiles esteemed every day the same but Jesus taught that the Sabbath was set aside and Holy. Paul was reminding the recipients of this letter that they needed to be grounded in the truth that was told to them, that they were responsible for staying true to the Gospel and not be persuaded by another.

Ask yourself this, if Jesus said nothing of picking a day of your own choosing to worship with Him, then why would Paul preach that? Always compare everything Paul wrote, who was recorded as difficult to understand, with what Jesus taught.

Do you really believe these would be enforced?

You may not sell toothpaste and a toothbrush to the same customer on a Sunday (Rhode Island)
The 22 most ridiculous US laws still in effect today. #10 is just crazy... LOL!

"Texans can buy beer on Sundays but not diapers. A woman in Mississippi cannot pick up a pair of stockings on her way to church. In New Orleans people can buy anything on Sundays, but they are compelled to go to the World's Fair or the French Quarter to do so."
THE CRAZY QUILT OF BLUE LAWS

Maybe someone should open a store called the World's Fair in New Orleans???

The LAWS are already inacted in the US but not enforced at this stage. They are still on the books.

Read about them here.... (wiki; linked)

I already gave a link that shows many have been repealed.

Hello friend the Blue laws are still on the books and have not been repealed. They are sleeping and waiting to be re-activated. Pretty strange dont you think how it all lines up with prophecy?

In the beginning of this chapter to the Colossians, we read this;

In chapter 1 and verse 23 we read;
If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

I think Paul is very easy to understand.

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

What was Paul telling his formerly Pagan disciples at Colosse in his letter? Was he contradicting Yahshua, by telling them it's OK to break Yahweh's law? Of course not.

Why would he tell anyone not to judge them for turning away from Paganism; and keeping Yahweh's law, as Yahshua did? Who would judge them; fellow disciples who had turned from lawlessness themselves? Doubtful.

I suspect that it was the Pagan friends and families of these former Pagans, who were trying to drag them back into their old lawless ways.

Lets look at this verse in that context:

Let no man therefore judge you in meat (as you eat kosher. I remember the pressure that my family put me through when I gave up pork), or in drink (as you abstain from drunkenness. I remember the pressure that my friends would put on me, in my younger years, to indulge in their drinking and drug parties.) , or in respect of an holyday, (as you keep Yahweh's Moedim as Yahshua and even Sha'ul (Paul) did.) or of the new moon, (as you keep them as commanded by Yahweh.) or of the sabbath days:(as you keep them as a sign between Yahweh and the sons of Israel, forever.)

And all your quotes could be turned back to what the scripture means to many. For example: Let no man therefore judge you in meat (because you may eat anything you like).

And I don't just go by that, but the many lists of serious sin listed in the new testament, never mention the breaking of the Sabbath, or not eating unclean foods.

Then there is the fact some things changed from the old to the new covenant. I'll keep working on this one until I figure out exactly what the truth is, but until then, just call me wishy washy. :)

Thanks for the input.
