At this point, I confess I haven't spent a great deal of time assessing them. On fairly provincial grounds, I'm favoring Kamala Harris at the moment. She's of my generation and from my state, and I feel she would do a good job representing my voice. It's a long time until the primaries, so I trust I will learn more about the pluses and minuses of all the horses in the race.

I also have generally positive impressions of Klobuchar, Gillibrand, Castro, and Beto.

Beto. Compassionate, reasonable, still fiery. I line up with him on the vast majority of political positions he has taken.

For me, it's Booker for the same reasons... plus, as a fellow New Jerseyan, I gots to represent...

Theyre all ok. So far.

Have to admit, the Warren "native" stuff bugs me, but its nothing compared to the things that bug me about Trump - or Cruz, or most of the Repub batch.

I think my fav will emerge later.

Dont be swayed by quick/dirty image issues that pop up in this social media environment. Slow down. Give things time.

Honestly? I don't know at this point. Ideally, it'd be AOC. But unless we have a Wild In The Streets scenario that lowers the voting age sometime between now and next year, that won't happen.

Of the candidates who have declared and have a chance of winning, I'd say Warren. I'm not at all convinced of the propaganda that the racist 'Pocahontas' stuff is going to damage her as long as she rises above that claptrap.

they can be declared, or undeclared at this point.

Would you yourself vote for a Democrat that did not want socialism, and did not support abortion, but simply was centrist, and decent, and not attacking people on twitter, and not slandering groups like immigrants?

I'm not ultra excited about any of them yet tbh. Part of that is I know nothing about a lot of them. I can get behind Senator Warren, but I'm still not ultra excited about her. She has some really interesting ideas, but I don't see Republicans ever working with her.

Warren I've known since 2003, when I happened by random chance in a library on her book written with her daughter "The Two Income Trap" which pinpointed the most central cause of much American family difficulty in staying afloat, in a sharp, clear way (and its invaluable knowledge). She's the real deal in that way.

I was actually excited by her book back in 2003, and even started recommending it to all of my friends (though it's just an analysis of why families struggle financially).

Something I had never done in such an enthusiastic way before, nor since, for any other book (outside the Bible).

So, as you could imagine, I was glad when this crusader/do-gooder was called up to Washington in the 2008 crisis to help. I think that was the first time she was in a national spotlight, and became known widely.

While Warren is the kind of medicine most needed at the moment (the right antibiotic at the right moment can really help) -- I recognize she may not be telegenic enough, nor easy to relate to enough, to really get past the primaries.

Americans want a person that is more...relaxed and self-assured -- really comfortable in their own skin. That kind of thing.

That's part of our problem as a nation -- we fall for big self-confidence, no matter that it's not justified. Over and over.

America is a nation that doesn't trust in the good.

America trusts more instead in the 'flesh' as Paul named it -- the urges of the 'flesh'.

So I'm not sure Warren could get elected, because she's not coming from the 'flesh' that way America prefers.

So, therefore, we probably can only get someone less wise, that more appeals to American's wish for our usual god-in-a-person here, that big self confidence that satisfies Americans urge to worship a person.

For me, it would have to be Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. She was entertaining when she ran for her current seat, she continues to be entertaining now, and would just love to see what she would say and do during a presidential election.

Except she's not a presidential candidate nor can she be this election. I really don't get why she seems to live in your head so much.

Those who entertain tend to make an impact.

Even more entertaining would be the right's reaction were she to win that election.
