I have to think LiveScience is also, like me, 12 years old.

Uranus is always full of surprises.

For the first time, astronomers have detected mysterious X-rays flaring out of Uranus.

How is this happening? A closer study of Uranus is required to know for sure.

This is so much fun, to me.

Wasn't there a thread where I learned that not everyone pronounces Uranus in such a way that brings out the my middle school brain?

This is kinda cool, the explanation of why Uranus (alone) is tipped over on its side --

Unlike all the other planets, which spin roughly "upright" with their spin axes at close to right angles to their orbits around the sun, Uranus is tilted by almost a right angle. So in its summer, the north pole points almost directly towards the sun. And unlike Saturn, Jupiter and Neptune, which have horizontal sets of rings around them, Uranus has vertical rings and moons that orbit around its tilted equator.

The ice giant also has a surprisingly cold temperature and a messy and off-centre magnetic field, unlike the neat bar-magnet shape of most other planets like Earth or Jupiter. Scientists therefore suspect that Uranus was once similar to the other planets in the solar system but was suddenly flipped over. So what happened?

Guys, we've had this discussion.

It's oor-AH-noos

I thought I remembered seeing this discussion. Is that the official pronunciation? Or, is that how astronomers pronounce it?
