What do you mean by abiogenesis if not non living things becoming living things?
A non-living thing being made a living thing.

"Becoming" is too impersonal.

Ok, so you are rejecting the primary meaning of abiogenesis and are instead exclusively talking about synthetic biology?

If you are asking if advances in synthetic biology would warrant a prize, you should ask more directly.

He's talking about creating a living thing out of nothing.

Out of what would seem to be thin air

I asked him if he meant that and he said it wasn't.
Yes. I saw his post. HE knows best.

Synthetic biology is no different than what was being discussed regarding these mutations and modifications to bring about artificially a "super human"
I hold to my first response to this thread

Ah, so you want to sneak in the idea of a creator so you can pull it out of a hat later and pretend you made some kind of point?

No cheating, AV. That's really dishonest.

So, now that we've got AV's objection to my terminology out of the way, we can go back to this:

If a scientist conducts an experiment in which non-living things become living things, should that scientist get a Nobel Prize?

I would ask you to define life first...
