Hi all,

Two days ago I took shrimp pasta down to my neighbour.
I asked her how it was and she said that it may have been under cooked.
I ate it and so did my father with no issues.
But this evening I phoned her and she was in hospital with food poisoning.
Please pray that she gets through it as she is elderly with many health issues.

Also, please pray that she forgives me for my neglegence and that it doesn't hinder our friendship.

I am trying to reach her for Christ.
Thanks in advance!

God has definitely given you a challenge. I have never eaten pre-prepared food from my sister ever again. Though it may not have been your fault. At the wrong temperature food can go bad in 45 minutes. I onced slow cooked a chicken and couldn't eat it when it was finished cooking. It had spoiled while I was cooking it.

Just for your peace of mind ...

I wonder how much time had passed when your neighbor commented that she thought the shrimp pasta was undercooked ? I doubt that she would have done more than just taste food that she felt was "undercooked". And in the instances of food poisoning I've experienced, symptoms present just shortly after I've eaten ... not even a day later.

The saving grace for you is that she, most certainly, had something else to eat in that time period, other than your shrimp pasta.

Certainly, the point that your father and yourself ate the pasta, and experienced no symptoms, is compelling.

It is also compelling that the issue of your gifting of the pasta salad ... has not been raised as a causative factor at this point.

At this point, I think that I would convey, as possible, my distress regarding her distress, and that I am appalled that I could have possibly had anything at all to do with it.

I would refrain from offering any defense of my gifting ... unless the point is raised, and then, I would simply mention that others had eaten ... and not become ill ... and that I can't imagine how she would have been affected. Even in doing so, I would remain conciliatory.

For the future, I would limit my food gifting to items which are very safe ... despite how they're handled beyond my handling. Perhaps shrimp pasta falls into that category ... I really don't know.

I will be praying for you, your neighbor, and all concerned ...

If pasta or rice get left out they develop a very nasty strain of bacteria, like worst food poisoning ever.
The most likely culprit for food poisoning are melons. People leave them out on fruit plates not realizing they have the shortest amount of "safe" room temperature time.
Agreeing with all the prayers, may she have a quick and complete recovery.
