This post is actually a message I wrote to a brother who has been battling committing adultery unsuccessfully, for years. But listen. It can apply to any who are living in the fleshly old nature, caught in the web of sin.

I pray people reading this do not fall into the trap of thinking that if one is only committing “small sins”, non-addictive ones, socially acceptable ones, that the words shared here somehow do not apply to them. In truth, these children are in more danger because they have a harder time understanding how reprehensible their fleshly nature is to God. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to admit that their old man must die, just as surely as with the addict or the adulterer. I pray that eyes are opened and hearts enlarged to receive what God has for us all.

    Blessings,

    Gids

    **************

Brother, as you read the following words, I hope you understand that I am not trying to lessen your offense. Yes, it is shameful, yet is God surprised at what our flesh is capable of? Nope. Sometimes I think He is shocked we don’t do far worse things! LOL. Here is what you have to realize.

First you must see that your battle is not against lustful thoughts and actions. If you do as you have, trying not to give in again, even if you succeed in not feeding your lust, it will be what I refer to as a “white knuckle” victory, which leaves you no joy, no peace, no rest. In addition, it robs God of the glory, for you did it, not God.

How many believers fall into this trap, trying to prevent themselves from producing bad fruit? But that is what Satan wants, and watches your struggles, your failures and yes, even your white knuckle victoriewith glee and yes, amusement.

There is truly only one way to win this fight. God’s way. And what is this path to real victory? We must make our tree good. And we do that by a willful act of desperate, bodacious faith, believing that the old us, the adulterous us, the self loving us, died when Christ died.

This is what Paul is talking about in Romans 6. Reckoning faith. Calling something that is not yet seen as though it is. Believing you receive it, right now, this very minute, simply because God said it. He says we are dead to self and alive to Him. And by and large, few have ever done this. But this must be done, for if we are to ever walk as overcomers of the world, the flesh and the devil, we are going to have to do so as an act of spiritual force...by faith!

Do not wait until you ‘feel’ strong enough. Or sincere enough. Or desperate enough. You never will. Now, at your weakest, with guilt still fresh on your soul, realize that Christ died to rescue you from YOU. Until that contrition leads you to the difficult truth that you, your old nature, is the real culprit, and you finally HATE that person, even the one that seemingly does good, and behaves nicely, you will forever be running laps in the wilderness of unbelief.

God has already made you new... victorious... alive. But, and this is huge, until by a willful act of reckoning faith, you put off the old man and put on the new man, you will never experience victory.

I am sure in your guilt you wish you could be like other Christians who seem to have no battles. But you have a great advantage. You KNOW your flesh is out of control and cannot be counted on. You KNOW you need the great physician. How many there are who do not struggle with sins such as yours and the addiction I struggled with against porn and masturbation. Their sins, their flesh, does not appear to be that bad, so they never come to the point that they have NO strength.

But that is the point you are finding yourself. So the question you must ask yourself is “Would you be made whole, free, victorious?” This is your own personal valley of decision. It is a hard place to come to, trust me. But understand that your choice here is THE decision that will guide you into eternity. I am not saying that if you slip again, you will have sealed your fate.

But know this. You will simply have to repeat this painful process, and be brought back to the same choice.... life or death. The pleasures of sin for a season, or choosing pleasing God over pleasing self.

One other note here. It will never get easier than it is today. Why? Because sin hardens hearts, and makes it even more difficult to believe. You have been given a great gift, understanding the narrow way of escape, I pray you fall before God and ask Him for the faith to believe the truth. Your seed that God planted in you is perfect and capable of growing up into a huge tree, doing exploits for God, but each willful choice to not believe will make it that much more difficult to do so the next time.

I do not want to scare you, but you must realize that not making a choice is to God making the choice to choose this life, to choose pleasing your rebellious old man. There will come a day, and I believe we will see it, that multitudes of people who thought they had their eternity nailed down and that their prayer said long ago secured Heaven for them, who will discover that by willful choice, they rebuilt what God destroyed and MADE themselves transgressors, even after they had been washed clean. Can you imagine the horror one will have on that day to realize that is what they thought was ok, was spitting on the cross, and counting the blood of Christ, wherewith they WERE sanctified, an unholy thing, and by their actions putting Christ to an open shame?

Can you imagine waiting in line as you hear the screams of anguish... the terror... as those who go before your into the judgment room to face God discover their error and it slowly dawns on you what you too have done the same thing. And sitting next to you is the woman you have committed adultery with. There will be no lust as you sit together. There will only be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Oh brother, my heart aches for you. Jesus offers each one of us a way out, a way out of sin, out of letting self rule in God’s place. It is wonderful and it is sure, but you must want what He offers you more than 1000 nights of illicit pleasure. God is better. I pray you believe that. A pure conscience is an amazing thing.

I pray my words help you. My heart aches for you. If you have any questions or would like to call so I can pray with and for you, I would be honored.

One last thing. What I have shared here is critically important to all who walk in the flesh, even to those thinking they are doing fine in the Lord while they still walk in the flesh. A new life of joy, peace and rest awaits us all. If we choose to believe Him, He will plant our feet on the high ground of victory, and make us real overcomers. Can you imagine the joy we will experience as Satan comes against us again with temptation, and we calmly staring Him down, with assurance and power in voice that echoes up from our hearts made new? That awaits any and all, no matter how bound, no matter the sin, if we will simply cry out to Him in our weakness to set us truly free by believing His amazing truth?

    Blessings,

    Gideon

Are you sure? Many of those posts from a newbie with a low post count are fake fictions intended on sucking up your thoughts and time. People usually justify their sins and do not battle them in the least.

Am I sure he was telling the truth? Let me be plain here.

If that is your concern, and you do not see that millions of your fellow believers are found struggling with sins of the flesh, you are totally missing the importance of the answer God has for all of us.

In our modern take on.the gospel we have been led to the false conclusion that once we become Christians, sin is a mute point and God sees us with Jesus colored glasses on.

God has a walk for us that is beyond belief, and He will make us overcomers, IF we long for such such a life that brings glory to God.

But if we sit back, assume all is good, and continue to feed our flesh, we risk our eternity with our hardened hearts, as we recklessly rebuild what He destroyed.

Lest we forget, God is not mocked. What a man sows, He will reap. And there approaches a day when all of us will come to understand that all too well.

    Blessings,

    Gids

If you are responding to newbies with a low post count, you will find they are often (90%) people not interested in interacting, and they never reply. They are not actually people seeking help. You can waste your time with them if you wish. But advising them to seek face to face help is the best use of your time becasue they get a kick out of stirring up conflict and watching the bees swarm online. They feel power kicking a bee hive. That's why I asked if you were sure.

First, this was not a post. Secondly, I have been in conversation with him for over a year. Any other questions?

Why would this be your concern rather than seeing we in the church have great need of being freed from the grip of the enemy? I am confused.

I'm not sure if this is open to conversation or not. But I'm starting to understand the "painful process" as you called it. It started about 2 years ago. I'm also very familiar with what Romans 7 talks about. I do what I don't want to do. And it goes deeper, I want what I don't want to want. I want to be as God wants me to be, but so often I am not.

I'm at the point where I don't trust myself anymore. I can't trust my efforts. It doesn't only end up in failure, it seems to make my failures worse and more bitter. I've started to hate the self in me that does it. I don't want him. I want Christ. I want Christ to take control and relieve me. So that's where I go with my shame, to Christ. He knows. He knows I want to shake this old self out of me, and yet I still give into what my old self demands. So I pray for Him to take it away from me, to give me a stronger faith, and to keep me and guide me. Time and again. And if I'm stupid enough to turn away and run into that brick wall again, which I often am, I have no other choice but to go to Christ again. I believe that in the middle of all my filth, He is showing me that He is the way, and I have nobody else to turn to.

He's still got plenty to teach, because as it turns out I'm stubborn and blind, but it's gotten a little better. I'm not out of the woods yet, and even if I am and my old self was crucified ages ago, I still don't fully realize it. But it's better. I've learned that sometimes I can't even trust my own faith, which can be weak. I'll just skip it and go straight to the source. I have more peace now with my stumbling, and I want Christ to grow in me. And if the day comes where I am delivered in such a way that I can fully embrace it and know it, I hope that God enables me to encourage those who are struggling with the same things, so that they wouldn't despair so much.

Lol, you are not getting it. First of all, this was not a post made. This was a pm I shared with a friend who is struggling. We have shared back and forth for over a year.

Secondly, exactly what will someone in the church say to him face to face? To pray? To seek God? To read the Bible? To meditate on His Word? To fast? To try harder? We might as well give them a nice little happy face sticker, tell them “God bless you, be warm, be filled” because that’s about the same thing as the one who did that in the Bible. The struggler was not given what he needed. In this case, answers. We have them.... or do we? And if we tryly do, why isn’t it work in the vast majority of Christian’s lives?

Truthfully, it matters not whether this particular brother was made up or real. The advice shared will set any free indeed if they so long for it, and believe God’s promises.

Oh, that we might awake and see how how far we have drifted from believimg the truth in our hearts. Will it take catastrophe or persecution to jolt us from our stupor to see how lukewarm we have become to the call of God? I pray not.

    Blessings to you.

Brother, you may not feel blessed, but you are. The message of who we really are in Christ is an amazing, mind-bendingly wonderful message, but before we can truly receive it, we have to come to the place where you now are.

What does our God tell us?

“Unto them that have no strength He increases might.”

Did you get that? No strength. None.

“We are the corcumcision who worship God in the Spirit and have no confidence in the flesh.”

There’s that word again. NO confidence.

It is a hard place to come to. Trust me. When God draws us to Him, to give up the sins that have enticed us, we try. And we fail. So we re-double our efforts. And we fail twice as much, lol. We think we are a lost cause. Everyone else looks so happy, so victorious. Looks are deceiving.

But when we finally break before God and simply tell Him we long to be obedient, long to love Him with all of our hearts, long to give up the sins that so easily beset us, something amazing happens. God breaths on our faith that what we cannot EVER do, God wants to do IN US, through us.

As modern believers, we have the death of a Christ and His resurrection down pat. We hear it in a thousand different ways Sunday after Sunday. But boy, do we not hear that the old us died too. We do not hear that we are new creatures and can do all things through Him who strengthens us. We do not hear that it is no more us... the old, carnal, rebellious, religious us that lives, but Christ now lives in us.... the new man!

This is what we are being awakened to and we are soon to discover how far God’s Grace really goes! If I can be of any further help, just PM me. I will be more than happy to share what God is willing to do for you? How do I know? He has done it, and continues to do it for me, and outside of Him, I am one messed up guy. :)

    Blessings,

    Gideon

No you aren't. The point is that you know where the answer is. You're being "trained" to go to Him. Have faith that He will do it. Even if your faith was weak, just believe with the faith you have. Because the more we fail and the more we hate our failures and our wrong desires, the more we will depend on Christ, and the more we will know and love Him. He might be working in you in ways you don't understand yet. In the end it's not what you do, it's what He does. Chin up doggy!

Yep, no light in your failures and efforts. Plenty of light in Christ. Just hold on to that hope. Eventually you will notice a change. Don't think for one second that many people don't have these struggles for a long, long time. And life isn't all about just bitter failures. Don't let that occupy all of your mind and heart. Plenty of simple, good things everywhere. Many ways to glorify God, love our neighbor, to do and think about healthy and good things. Don't get discouraged brother. If you need someone to talk to, my PMs are always open.

In my in my own case, I finally realized God was asking me to step out and actually believe Him, even if my faith was microscopic.

What did James say? If we do not believe, if we doubt in our hearts, nothing changes. We are told “Believe that you receive, and you shall have.”

With NO evidence other than God’s promise, He asks us to step out of the boat and place our foot on the storm driven water, trusting that as soon as our foot gets wet, the water will solidify under our feet.

Who has faith like that? Someone who realizes they are in a sinking boat. LOL. When we finally get it that in our flesh we have ZERO hope of overcoming, and tell God, ‘I believe you. I trust that you cannot lie”, and step out in faith and beliege that the old us IS dead, not needing to die and that sin no longer holds us captive, to our amazement, that tiny little seed of pure unadulterated faith begins to sprout. No matter how small, you have just enough!

So when Satan comes tempting, and He will, we hold up our shield of faith that we ARE new, right now, today! And that shield o faith WILL quench all...ALL.. the fiery arrows of the enemy.

Now, IF we slip again.... not when but IF, and we might, for our faith is small and needs to grow, do we fall back into unbelief and say it doesn’t work? Never! We dust ourselves off, we confess our sin to God alone, we repent..... and? AND we believe again! Trust me, Satan will be totally flustered, for he is used to springing into action when we fall and heap guilt upon us. But guilt pushes us further from the answer, not closer. FAITH is what God wants to grow in us. Faith is our answer. Faith that we serve a God who CANNOT lie! Glory!!

    Blessings,

    Gideon

You are a strong tower and a lighthouse beacon to many lost and hurting people that are groping around in darkness searching for some kind of hope my brother and your light is overcoming much darkness on these forums.

I lift you up in prayer and I pray that God sends many more people in your direction and that He opens their spiritual eyes to see and their ears to hear the words that the Holy Spirit speaks through you.

Sadly so many precious souls out there that have been indoctrinated with things that are simply blinding them to that wonderful grace that is so abundantly available unto them.
Some are deceived by evil and they believe they cannot stop the sin. But as we know, Sin loses it's power when one truly let's go of self and grasp ahold of God.

The Word says how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.
You were one of the many here who helped me greatly through a very tough season and I am forever grateful for the prayer and encouragement, You bless me with your loving heart and I thank you brother, Keep on shining :]

    With much love

My dear brother in Christ, I truly am honored to have had a small part in helping you in what I know had to be an extremely difficult time. You are a blessing to me and to others here. I have seen several comment in other random posts where people are pointing others to you for guidance. That is the testimony of Jesus in you. I hope one day we can meet.... before Heaven, LOL.

I have seen few pastors that I feel are listening to God, burdened for the souls of the sheep struggling under their care. They are looked upon only as building blocks to build the church bigger, bit neglect building the people themselves bigger. You restore my hope that there are more out there, tired of being CEOs that are compelled to give those in their care what they want to hear, rather than what they NEED to hear. Thank you for that, Scotty. It means a lot to me.

    Blessings,

    Gids
