  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok, so I was in a bad mood this morning, and when I came home from work Hubby had DD1 in a pull up, we are trying to potty train her, but are/were failing horribly, and I blame the pull ups, they are just glorified diapers. Anyway, I took the pull up off of her, set her on the potty, at this point she had already filled the pull up, and went and got her, her panties, she has been in them all day. Get this she has been accident free all day. I so should have banned pull ups sooner. With a new baby coming in the spring, I hope to have DD2 potty trained before baby comes as well, maybe we will just skip the pull ups and go straight to big girl panties with her, she sitts on DD1's potty as it is now.

How old is she?

I keep getting frustrated about my dd who is 3 (yes 3) and still in nappies, but what it comes down to is if they aren't ready then they aren't. (It's the end of Winter here, so I will just wait until Summer then actively work on it with her) She has days when she wants to wear undies, so I let her, she will also sit on the potty and has done no. 1 on the potty more times than I can count, but I just don't think she understands when she actually has to "go". So that is why I still have her in nappies a little longer.

Yes get rid of the pull ups, I have never used pull ups, except for outings, never around the house, if they have an accident at home, then you just clean it up, but it's a little harder outside the home, it's more embarrassing for the child too, so I use pullups out and about.

I had OS in pull ups till almost 2 and got rid of them. He did much better with his regular undies.

Same goes of YS. Although I did keep YS in pull ups at night but he didn't have any accidents...I just didn't want to have to change the sheet's IN CASE :p

There was an interesting article about how babies were PT earlier before disposable diapers/pull ups became popular.

I just want to say not to be too discouraged if your 1 year old is not potty trained when the baby comes. I can't remember how old she is? My middle is 18 months. Anyway it is not too bad to have two in diapers. To be honest I think its easier than having one newly potty trained with a newborn... you have to find the nearest bathroom and would have to bring all 3 kids at the store, iykwim.

LOL, I am not going to presure Mary into potty training, she is only 15 months right now, and I have had two in diapers that long, LOL. I don't mind having two in diapers, but if Christian can be done with them, then that is for the best, cause I will not have three in diapers!

well all i can say is good luck. my todler is nearly 3 and he is great in the house. out and about is a bit of a challage. but tomorrow im going to buy lose trousers for him so he can pull them down him self.
many people say you should push them in to it before they are ready but sometimes they need a bit of encourgement to start thinking about when they are doing it.

your 3 year old sounds well on the way. the good thing about the second the older on can teach them to. and parently the second child picks up sooner cause they are watching there brothers and sisters doing it.

Does Christian like wearing panties? Natalie was attached to the Pull-ups longer than I wanted her to be, but I encouraged her with the idea that panties were pretty and fun and the cool big girl thing to wear.

When she was ready, she started wearing them with no accidents. One night she asked to wear them to bed and we gave it a try. She has wet the bed a few times, but as long as we remember to have her go potty right before bed, she does fine.

I felt stressed when Natalie reached her 3rd birthday not potty trained, but I think most kids will do it when they're ready if you're encouraging about it. I think before then when I was pressuring her it almost made it worse.

I would not be surprised if Mary potty trains sooner. Noelle (20 months) is all about the potty too. She will not leave her diaper on if I put her in disposable. (She can't get off her cloth diapers.) I think having a big sister modeling the behavior makes a big difference.

thanks.

Yes she is now into the panties, and in 5 days we have only had 1 accident. I let her take her little potty into her room with her at night and nap times and she has been dry every night as well. She also takes the potty into the bathroom and dumps it into the potty, LOL.
