The editorial boards of both The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post, stalwart conservative publications owned by Rupert Murdoch, have published blistering critiques of former President Donald Trump following Thursday’s eighth January 6 committee hearing.

Murdoch newspaper editorials slam ‘unworthy’ Trump who ‘utterly failed’ on Jan 6

There has been much debate over whether Trump’s rally speech on Jan. 6, 2021, constituted “incitement.” That’s somewhat of a red herring. What matters more — and has become crystal clear in recent days — is that Trump didn’t lift a finger to stop the violence that followed.

And he was the only person who could stop what was happening. He was the only one the crowd was listening to. It was incitement by silence.

Trump only wanted one thing during that infamous afternoon: to pressure Vice President Mike Pence to decertify the election of Joe Biden.
Trump’s silence on Jan. 6 is damning

They were watching the hearings, they heard the same things millions heard. The people who continue to support Trump's behavior and believe he should be President again either haven't watched and heard the hearings or they are so stubborn they just can't admit he's a loser even when the most conservative Republicans tell them it is so.

Trump was not "allowed" to prevent BLM riots on the westcoast in 2020.
Trump was not "allowed" to block the "autonomous zone" hijacking of a U.S. city in the case of Seattle in 2020.

Trump asked to have Army resources put in place ahead of the Jan 6 event - and was denied by those who "did" have jurisdiction.

"on Jan. 3, three days before the now-former president's fiery speech that preceded the violence and led to his second impeachment.

According to Miller's testimony, Trump asked during that meeting whether the District of Columbia's mayor had requested National Guard troops for Jan. 6 ". It would have to come at the request of the D.C. Mayor or speaker of the house."

So that is a good way to "blame Trump" in all those cases for not moving in unilaterally outside of the normal chain of command.

No wonder the Jan 6 congressional drama event got so little viewer interest.

How nice if someone would take the whole thing seriously and come out with something a bit less driven by politics-as-usual.

I read that the Mayor was reluctant to call the Guard because the weekend warriors might have been infiltrated by domestic terrorists.
You can't belong to the Oath Keepers unless you've been in the military or law enforcement.

Trump didn't have to ask, he and only he had the authority to do this.
The military listened to the VP when he really didn't have the authority to demand military help on Jan 6.
Gen. Milley said it clearly.

What Trump didn't do after the insurrection began is how he has shown he true colors, VP Pence did what Trump should have done.

As usual, Miller lied. The Speaker of the House is not in the chain of command for the National Guard. And Trump's aides made that clear to him as they repeatedly begged him to protect the Capitol.

He ignored them and watched television.

"Shut the (bleep) up, Steve!" - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley to Stephen Miller for his lies.

Right. Pence ultimately approved the troops who secured the Capitol and ended the coup attempt.
