Well, it depends what you mean by "Go down." As an Amil I think 'rapture' is just symbolic of us being 'up' and safe like Noah sitting 'up' on top of all the waters of judgement. After all, when Jesus returns it all happens at once. We're 'up' to save us from all the judgement 'down there'. It's metaphor for us being kept safe while heaven and earth wed - while somehow the spiritual world - or aspects thereof - somehow become manifest with the physical universe. For Jesus still has his physical body - is still fully human and fully God - somehow absorbed 'up' into heaven.

This link explains the 2 ages model - and how everything happens together.

Rapture is a misinterpretation of scripture.

It is God's land. It might really surprise most when it happens that everything will change as we know right now. I do not think that anything will be the same after all the mountains are re-arranged. Revelation 6:14

"and every mountain and island was moved from its place."

Just so I'm on the same page with you, by grid you are meaning the power grid, right? Assuming you are, if the rapture were to precede the following event, I can maybe see that leading to the grid going down at the time. A scenario like this couldn't work with a Pretrib rapture though, in the event that that is the rapture you have in mind. The events recorded in Revelation 16:10 would be meaning after the GT.

Revelation 16:10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,

How does that work 'after' Revelation 6 basically shows the end of the world?

See, I don't think it's possible to read Revelation as a 'timetable' of the last generation. It's a sermon to suffering Christians, not an end-times-table.

As Bishop Paul Barnett explains, the 1000 years we are in (long period of time between Jesus resurrection and return) have the following cycles described all in parallel - along side each other - not to be read sequentially like some sort of future timeline.
    HUMAN HISTORY: THE 1000 YEARS:-
Seven seals depicting TYRANNY (then back to the beginning to describe)...
Seven trumpets depicting CHAOS in nature (then back to the beginning to describe)...
Seven signs depicting PERSECUTION (then back to the beginning to describe)...
    Seven plagues depicting DESTRUCTION.
These episodes are concurrent, not consecutive.

Wouldn't it be ironic if we were looking for how the Corona Virus pandemic fit into some future timeline and missed it entirely because we were looking for a timeline prediction rather than a thematic description? What if we missed the entire point of Revelation, and missed biblical warnings and encouragements about our lives now - and the last 2000 years - because we were trying to read it with the wrong glasses on?

Bottom line - it describes natural disasters, tyrants persecuting the church, 'beast-states', the temptations of trusting in materialism and luxury and even state security, and all manner of other things the human race have experienced over the last 2000 years and into the next. Revelation was a book John wrote about impending Roman persecution, but also other themes. Some images (like the beast) describe Roman stuff, other things are more generic. Not everything has to be fulfilled in the first century because it was a general description of life and the various temptations we'll face.

To put it plainly, while Rev 13 describes Rome's persecution of the Christians in Asia Minor, it also tells us general principles about our beast states. Hitler was one beast state, Stalin another, North Korea yet another. There are many examples - and Amil Christians that live under these look to Revelation as a book of comfort. They laugh at the idea that John would have told his generation of suffering Christians "You think you've got it bad, wait till you see what happens in 2000 years!"

You do not know the day or the hour of Christ’s return. It will be sudden like lightening that flashes from one part of the sky to the next. You do not know if it will be today, or a hundred thousand years away.

What's hilarious is that as we are discussing future history readings I got an add for Tarot card readings here! Hey - weird futurist readings from Revelation or Tarot cards - take your pick. I'm going to stick with gospel centered Amillennialism that doesn't get quite so ... sidetracked.

Hi, rapture I do believe in but am willing to wait and see. The tribulation and the millennium have many more passages about them and lets say the rapture does happen which would be prior to the tribulation; we can look at the passages about those days and get a look into the conditions. Rev 6 notes peace taken from the earth, men killing one another and a days wage for a quart of wheat. In this description we see society across the earth is falling apart. YOu have to define what you mean by grid specifically. There certainly are many aspects that will fall apart and symbol they have used NWO is a Phoenix which rises out the ashes. We see the beast does not gain control over word until there are only 42 months to go so it seems the 1st 42 months are a different type of chaos that gives way to the beast system. These events will happen rapture or not so remember to love one another and share the LORD as long as we can.

Note - I'm really not expecting a massive rapture event to occur. But...

Let's suppose that a more or less literal pre-trib rapture event suddenly happens and somewhere between 10 and 20% of the world's population >Poof!< disappears. Might be less, might be more but 10% or more I think would be pretty significant. 1% maybe not so much.

In a best-case, gentlest scenario, they disappear over the course of 24 hours while they are asleep. That way, none of them are driving a car, piloting an airplane or in the middle of performing heart surgery. They go to bed in their pajamas and in the morning, there's only pajamas. I don't know that that is the way it is described in scripture - sounds more instantaneous. That would be A LOT of instant chaos, death and traffic jams and fear/terror. Possibly ALL infants/small children or those-about-to-be-born are gone? Maybe not. Something to consider as a possibility.

I would expect the grid to go down just from the sudden unexpected supply chain disruption either way, but it will probably come back up in fairly short order. Everyone left would have a very strong interest in getting it back up again.

You'll probably have (some) vacant seats in the government, certainly all that were selfless voices of reason will be gone; emergency orders, event attributed to alien invasion or outside forces. But they'll bring the grid back quick to get (mis)information out and coordinate population control in an event like this.

Ha! Good luck lol - neither the leaders nor the population they attempt to control will be of high spiritual caliber, since theoretically anyone and everyone in that category was just removed.... Interesting to think about. It should all turn into a Dumpster Fire pretty quick.

I would add, that if there is a pre-trib rapture that doesn't include you, a down grid will be the least of your worries. By mid or end trib, I doubt there is a functional grid. I think a 'stand alone' rapture pre-trib will interrupt the grid maybe for a few weeks to month, more likely brown outs than blackouts.

Now, what you might get is something like a very big catastrophic event kicking it all off during which people 'go missing'. There's more than one way to be 'caught up into the air' after all ;)

Or maybe those left behind won't have a good memory of the event. Maybe to them, those missing will have been people who 'passed away a year ago'. Lot of different ways things could play out depending on how God chooses to orchestrate it all.

John misinterpreted what he saw? I did not interpret. I restated. Since you offered no interpretation, does that means nothing happens at all?

Note - the strength of the Rapture Pull beam may vary according to your spiritual journey. This is NOT a case in which you want to be Lukewarm; you need it to be strong enough to achieve Material Escape Velocity...
