My little sister is into American colonialism, and she reads about it in books all the time that she checks out from our local library. She wants to go and see George Washington's house, which is at Mount Vernon, and I think that it is in Virginia? Correct me if I am wrong.

She likes re-enactments of battles that happened in America's past, like the Revolutionary War.

I am more of a modernist and a futurist and I don't dwell on the past (rather, I dwell on the future and the present), and I see American colonialism as being an era of America's past that is no longer relevant to today. It is outdated. America was at one time colonial (just a few colonies), but it hasn't been that way for over 200 years if I recall. We have expanded into one of the largest nations on earth.
