Mormon prophets add many non-biblical laws and ordinances as requirements to please their god.
They cherry pick verses about works and ignore or twist verses about grace. Joseph Smith determined that the Bible is an insufficient guide to eternal life. He claimed that those who are worthy through obedience to Mormonism can be given more truth. Joseph Smith and his followers claim that non-Mormons are blinded by the teachings of men.
