Can anyone tell me why the Mormon religion is a false one? I have been talking to the missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I even went to their church today.

We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?

They teach God is just one of many gods.
    They teach God was created.
    They teach Jesus isn't God.
They rank Joseph Smith (the founder) as on par w/ Jesus
They teach all Christian religions - Protestant, Catholic, whatever - is wrong & always has been wrong.

Those are a few of the biggest heresies.

There's a bunch of other crazy things they teach, but those are the ones that clearly scream "FALSE".

There were many Mormon witnesses on my college's campus, so I had become curious about them myself.

I read a book about Mormonism a few years ago. If you have a library card you can listen for free. It was really informative and I rated it four stars.

I recall a time when many female bloggers were LDS. Especially in the home and crafts niche. Some became household names. I think it was part of a push to integrate them into the mainstream. They don't always admit they're Mormons. They'll say God, Christian, etc and you don't realize they're talking about something else.

    Yours in His Service,

Here are my chief objections to LDS teachings:

    1) The claim that Jewish migrants came to the Americas before the birth of Christ does not hold up to archaeological scrutiny.

    2) The Book of Mormon contains large passages quoted verbatim from the King James translation of the Bible. This is strong evidence that the writing of the Book of Mormon postdates 1611.

    3) As I understand LDS teachings, they believe that Jesus is a separate being from God the Father, and that any of us may become divine in the same sense that Jesus has become divine. This is at odds with the traditional Christian understanding of God, of God's relationship to Jesus, and of God's relationship to humankind.

They teach that Jesus and Satan are "spirit brothers."

They teach that you can become a god with your own planet to be "God" over if you're a good enough Mormon.

They do not believe in God as Creator the way Christians do (with or without evolution).

They teach that women cannot go to Heaven unless they are married to a Mormon man who is good enough to get to Heaven.

There is no credibility to their claim that ancient Israelites sailed to the Americas and had a civilization. They also claim that they killed each other, but there's no evidence of that either.

Also, they're not all alike. There are different Mormon denominations that don't always get along. Some have weirder teachings that others reject.

--- A couple of Joseph Smith's associate founders later said they made it up.
--- He was never able to produce the Gold Plates he said he had
--- A companion text, 'The Book of Abraham', was proven to be a direct copy of an Egyptian text. (so if he lied about that, how much more likely it is he lied about the Book of Mormon)

The Mormon religion teaches another gospel.

Furthermore, this another gospel of Jesus Christ has no evidence of being true, i.e. no archeological evidence to illustrate that the events even happened.

Also I noted when reading their book, it not only contradicted the contemporary Jeremiah stating the prophets were preaching a message of repentance, the biblical account says the opposite. The mormon book also creates an unreliable narrator that violates principles in the proverbs and elsewhere in the Old Testament. It seems to be a religion created for people who don't know their bible very well.

Years ago, in one of my earliest jobs, I used to work with a Mormon.
She was a very kind lady, very hard working and dedicated to her job, and always went the extra mile to do her best for everyone.
I remember her always telling me that she was a Christian. It didn't take me very long to work out that many of her beliefs were not in line with orthodox teaching and practice and I certainly believed they were heretical.
Yet there were many things about her that I simply could not fault. Her care for others, her enthusiasm and passion for what she believed (even though I thought she was theologically off the rails!). She was very dedicated to her faith and particularly loyal in helping and serving members of her faith community, and she was extremely generous with her time and resources. I remember the day she came into work bringing copies of the Book of Mormon which she had got for each member of staff. It is certainly not a book that I either needed or wanted (and I had certainly no intention of reading it!) but I appreciated her gesture of goodwill and received her gift graciously. Others did not.
In the staff room, I heard many colleagues criticising her and moaning about her behind her back. Some of them thought that she was a nuisance. Others were plotting some method of getting rid of her, even though she was honest, professional and always did her job well. Many of those back biting, plotting and scheming against her, received her presents, freely and unreservedly, but never spoke to her, challenged her, or even asked why she had given them. To this day, their duplicity, dishonesty and ill-will has always surprised and baffled me. It inevitably results in someone being hurt and wounded, perhaps even through no fault of their own.
My motto in life is to be always faithful, firmly holding on to what we believe, but always being compassionate, gracious and kind. And always treating others in the same way we would expect to be treated.

    "Introverted1293,"

Tolworth John's advice is worth taking. Mormonism's beliefs and worship practices are so far removed from both Catholic and Protestant Christianity that it's not a good idea to become involved before you have all the facts.
