Official YouTube Blog: Our ongoing work to tackle hate

Google has initiated a furtherance of its ongoing policy of censoring and banning conservative and Christian content on its YouTube streaming service.

YouTube’s official blog states it is prohibiting “videos alleging that a group is superior in order to justify discrimination, segregation or exclusion based on qualities like age, gender, race, caste, religion, sexual orientation or veteran status.”

Of course their so called "hate speech" policy is partly guided by false presumptions pertaining to truth claims and competing worldviews. Such a broad outline is very subjective, and unless conservatives and Christians get serious in their prayers concerning a change in the Google’s leadership--as well as in its rank and file-- its employees will, in practice, interpret this in their usual biased fashion.

I would ask praying Christians everywhere to pray for a change in the leadership at Google/YouTube (and at other social media companies), and that any of its attempts to oppose the Christian worldview and agenda is disrupted and ultimately brought to absolutely nothing.

Edit: The YouTube blog apparently uses the words "group" and "ideology" interchangeably.

    Edit:
Praying that the social media giants fail in their attempts to remove and or censor the Christian influence and work on their platforms. This is spiritual battle. Praying against the Enemy's work in this.

I believe that if we continue to pray that the people running YouTube will not curb the Christian influence and content on their service, then we will continue to have that platform to minister the Gospel, provide news form a Christian perspective, and promote the Christian worldview.

I am praying that alternatives to YouTube will gain in popularity and support.

Youtube banned a popular gun channel but later unbanned it after people protested.

Youtube is not a platform that welcomes dissident voices or controversial voices. For years now they've been moving in a more TV orientated, commercialized direction that encourages safe and politically correct content. They are no longer a platform for content creators to express themselves but instead are a publisher who decides who they do and do not approve of making a living on their site.

If they were honest they would admit it.

And Youtube has demonstrably defined such in a biased fashion.

It's not as if the conservative Christians who are complaining about YouTube banning hateful speech are using Christian Forums, a Christian site, that also bans certain speech too, such as profanity. CF also forbids its members from flaming and goading other members. Members are very restricted to what they can and cannot post on this site. CF also bans members who break the rules. Should CF's banning practices be referred to as MORE CHRISTIAN FORUMS BIASED CENSORSHIP?

That supports the need for Conservative activism. Youtube censors will be biased against the Christian worldview becasue Google supports a secular humanistic worldview. It must be biased if it is to avoid censoring its own supported worldview.

Bad comparison. the major difference between your comparison is that CF is billed as a Christian platform. Not so with youtube. they outwardly claim neutrality of sorts.

Maybe Godtube would be more fitting for conservative Christians. Oh wait... the Terms of Use of Godtube are restrictive too and members can't post whatever they fancy on that site either.

That's not what I have been reading about Steven Crowder v Carlos Maza.

There's lots of good, wholesome Christian content on YouTube so I'm not sure what you are referring to.

I am sure that if I were to call people names, etc. here on CF I would be banned, and should be.

The rules are at least clear and you know what you're signing up for when you post on CF. Not so much on youtube, where they are vague and your video and entire channel can be deleted in an instant for any perceived slight.

If Youtube wants to advertise itself and say clearly that certain actions, lets say the reverse of CF's policies, are forbidden then they should do so. Yet they leave their code of conduct deliberately vague. Their rules say you aren't allowed to promote hatred against LGBT. What does that mean? Does it mean I can't argue that they're wrong? Does it mean I can't call those actions sinful on a video? Is any criticism tolerable? If I quoted Peter Damien would that be considered hateful?

The comparison between the two is somewhat appropriate but we all know the rules here. I've been guilty of violating them a few times and have accepted it. With Youtube, not so.

It still amazes me that there are those professing Christians supporting the idea that hate is itself somehow anti-biblical or wrong. There are so many things God hates. Once "hate" is allowed to be redefined, as Christians are currently doing unfortunately, it can and is easily used by those on the Left to support their anti-biblical worldview.

You can’t make fun of sexual immorality on YouTube but you can watch a positively themed abortion documentary on PBS....

Is this a serious response? When did I support Godtube as an alternative or an example of a good platform? My point is only that youtube is not a platform, they are behaving like a publisher when they restrict certain viewpoints they do not like or approve of. They should be honest and admit as such.

I remember when the You in Youtube was about the individual making a video? So long as it didn't have porn or excessivive violence, you could post whatever and it was sort of this great experiment of people sh** posting each other and making weird experimental content. I remember when the Christians and Atheists were debating each other to death and Youtube poop. It's not really about people anymore, flawed as they are, it's about YouTube trying to make money and get rid of content they don't approve of.

Sure people could be offensive, but so what? Does anyone believe that Carlos Maza is in mortal danger because Steven Crowder called a self described 'gaywonk' unflattering words?

Youtube has a history of bias against conservative content and has showed itself in various ways such as placing certain conservative content on its age restriction list with no real justification and disallowing the running of ads, and its implicit statements that its judgments will weigh favor of LGBT interests.
