Noting once again that Trump was a lifelong Democrat before running as a Republican.
Hi NH,
Yes he was. However, the Democrats didn't make him president and didn't fawn over him like he was some gift of God come down from heaven. He was merely a registered Democrat. Just like many, many thousands of registered Democrats, the DNC knows pretty much nothing about them personally. The Republican party, however, has known about Trump's personal habits. Lindsey Graham made it quite clear what he thought of Trump's personal life and habits. He did so on a national forum and so there is no excuse for Republicans not to have known the kind of man that he was. Now that we have seen how he's handling his job after the election, there's really no excuse for anyone not to know the kind of person that he is. He has literally abdicated his authority over national matters and goes out to play golf every day. His golfing has now become a daily 'duty' for him while the big chair at the WH sits empty. He even gave a talk the other day sitting at some small 'school' desk just to make perfectly clear to us that he isn't going to be sitting at the big desk anymore. Really? These are the acts of a responsible man who takes seriously the grave job that rests on his shoulders? I don't think so.
I think he is acting like a spoiled brat who, having not gotten his way, is just going to sulk and pout and take his ball and go home. The man has literally given up on America!!!! What kind of 'patriot' does that? But, as he has shown repeatedly in his term, he just can't handle the really tough issues of being the president. His refusal to take any advice or counsel not in agreement with what he already believes to know, also makes it very, very difficult to handle these issues. When you're always listening to 'yes men', then you might as well just be a king or something. And please believe me, or not, Donald Trump is just not particularly smart, despite his proud proclamation that he is.
However, in his now very, very public display to everyone, Republicans included, that his campaign has reneged on some billing from cities for additional campaign security funding. They would now be the ones to explain, in their conservative evangelical way, how it's perfectly ok for them to support a man who pretty obviously doesn't share all of their 'conservative evangelical' values.
Of course ultimately, I don't expect the issue to come up. I was merely thoughtfully considering how his stiffing of bills for work done over his lifetime lines up with those 'conservative' values that the Republican party emblazons and toots on their horns how very conservative they all are. Well, it seems that one of their number is not as conservative as maybe they think that they are.
God bless,
ted
