The Wanting

Before the burning logs at the evening's time,
A man bows in silence wanting God like home.
He sees the purple pomegranates and hears the golden bells
That ward away holy anger and of glorious beauty tell.
Night wraps around the house, logs yield up their fire.
The man stands up in peace, warmed with the wanting.

Beyond

I lift up my eyes too high.
I stretch too far to clasp
To myself the stars,
To condense them
To a page of understanding.

Inscribed across night's black sheet,
Just beyond the reach of touch,
Scintillating ciphers shimmer and pulse.
Faintly I hear, just,
“Not yet for you,
Too far, too much.”

Three jewels here, afish. Fascinating write in "Meeting Greeting".
Great existentialist answer to the question, "How are you?" Much
simpler, but less real, to say "Fine." Much more difficult, but more
meaningful, to admit to the great mysteries of existence and our
human frailty.

Morning Mood

I drove for miles.
The world was empty.
The road was lonely
And glad of my company.
It stretched out and yawned grey
Under the grey and early sky.
From its edge a rabbit
Hopped into the hedge,
Saying, to my surprise,
“You are wrong my friend
There is life after breakfast.”

The Walk

Violets, no longer shy, spill out
From the sides of country roads
As I walk by.
Birds with slow songs
Warm up for longer days.
And the used sun goes down
Through a sky of pinks and greys.

I've read of Solomon and all he did.
He cut huge cedars, hewed monumental stones
He poured out rivers of gold
To build a house for God to dwell in.

When will these roads, these steps,
These steps I take,
Come to the welcoming gates?

Hi afish. Your poem, "Morning Mood", reminds me of unexpected pleasures, little glimpses of life
that can accompany what might otherwise seem a mundane activity. You have done a great
job of creating a dismal grey day, it was empty and even yawned!
In Britain are you familiar with our cartoon character Elmer Fudd? "Dagnabbit that wabbit!"

Yo RR, Thanks. In those far off days know as 'my youth' one of our standard greetings used to be, 'Nehhr, Wot's up Doc! Have a carrot!
This picture is one coloured in for me by one of my children when they were small. I've kept it around ever since. I feel a real affinity with its after breakfast mood :(:)

Celebrations

Cherry blossom petals are floating down
Speckling the ground.
Warbling and see-saw bird sounds
Weave through the descending flakes
Making their falling a celebration.
Was Winter only just gone
When it was frost that whitened
And only crows sang?
That was a sad celebration.

Over the Hills and Far Away

One man went to mow his meadow
But when he got there he found
A machine had been and cut it clean.
So instead of scything he sat down
And sighed for rabbit pie
Made from conies caught in the hedgerows,
Hedgerows as old as the old ways
Which wended over hills and dales,
Where Little Boy Blue asleep on the hay
Was dreaming of metal monsters
That ate up little boys where they lay,
Over the hills and far away.

Hey afish,
Priceless colored drawing of D. Duck! I loved the sweet nostalgia in this last poem and
"Celebrations" contains two incredibly clear but strikingly contrasting images. Sort of
like the yin and yang of seasons. Enjoyed both immensely.
Take care!

Traveled out

Say have you been?
Hey, have you seen?
Book the fares, live the dream.

Timeshare, beachwear,
For a fortnight
Not a care.

Culture vultures,
Dig those sculptures.
Break for lunch. Cheers!

Café talkers,
Sight-see walkers,
Prefer Rome to New York ers.

So home we've come.
Yea, sure was fun.
Bring out the brochures for the next one.

Been there, done that.
How about Mount Ararat?
Or Great Limpopo's cataracts?

Sorry, nowhere left to go
To be where it's at. :(

The Unadorning

Are potatoes still grown in Peru
Or is it just cans of factory stew?
Do salmon still traverse the oceans
Or has the circle now been broken?

Did the ancients already know
As they ploughed and as they sowed,
As the seasons came and went, As the heads filled and bent?
Did they see, the uprooting that would be?

Do swallow legions still change the seasons
Or is it just the few passing through?
Do men still feast from the earth?
Or only exist from dearth to dearth?

Was it told? Was it taught,
As our fathers sold and bought,
The wheat, the wine, the silver of the seas,
Rain-washed fruit from rain-washed trees?
Was it warned the unadorning there would be?

Fascinating poem afish, and it invites the reader to think deeply about where we
have been and where we are going, and what are we sacrificing in the process.
Have we become disconnected from God's creation, from the natural cycles of
life, from meaning and beauty? I hope that in the ever burgeoning I-world we don't
lose the ability to see His-world. Very fascinating poem, afish!

Thanks RR, For many years it never really registered with me that heaven and earth will be our eternal home. The present one (to be restored) and then a completely new one after the millennium.

“We give thanks to You, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was; You have taken Your great power and begun to reign. The nations were enraged, and Your wrath has come. The time has come to judge the dead, and to reward Your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear Your name, both small and great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”

Oh Greatcloud you are a great cloud raining down words softly and loud. Many and many are your works of words, some superb, some absurd, some have been heard. You mind, and your mind tries to find how to say what you see, in your way. Be the best you, the real you but eschew all that tries to tie and trip into slippery self and unhealth. To God be the glory great things He has done, into His Kingdom we little children do run, stumbling and fumbling and having fun. I found this poem of yours Oh Great Cloud, tis a gud un!

Bliss of exsistance it comes with persistance. Don't fear it hear it; now , faith in He who made us. His children one with your surroundings. Listening for His still small voice all sins erased thrown as far as the east is from the west never to be remembered, that is you. The best you - the real you.

A moment of morning

Good morning beautiful day today. It is 5:54 am. Beauty is coming to the Indonesian archipelago and here too.

I am Indian on my Mom's side of the family she's a quarter Indian from a plains Indian tribe. Perhaps the Chyanne indian tribe of note , remember them ?

So it is six am now . Just sitting here in front of the living room window with my strong coffee and blackberry pie. Thinking about how it is the same Sun shining down on me as in Indonesia.

I'm going to go there and visit the forrest and the beaches of beauty, but I'm sure they are always smiling at me. My girlfriend Grace is a flower in my life. She lives in the Philippines and I want to know more about her. I'm going to go there and live in her country. Abandonment of the Holy Spirit cannot happen to you and I. Anyone who says this is wrong or an atheist or both. To say today , today in May, that, that can happen is the same as saying God will turn his back on you. Jesus Christ died upon a tree for us all. He saved us from the fall, when the first sin began. I'm sorry but I believe in once saved always saved. Of course you must be good saved. Baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit.

It is six twenty five. Thinking of writing my girlfriend Grace on Facebook. Grace is a pastor. I didn't know she was a pastor. I was first attracted to her picture. Then and only then did l read her profile and discover she was a pastor. That is why I am certain that God brought us together. There are many more funny poems I have shared in some I have dared. To tell how I fell and then God smashed a lemon chiffon pie in my face and said to me go to her now. Pow, lemon chiffon running all around my face.
So you see God brought us together and she said she knows what flower grows. Beauty is the flower of love.

Wow it's a quarter of seven have to start my new day. Shower, shave and brush my teeth with whitening products and I am going out for a while.

ALMOST 7:00 am. Abandonment of my favorite foods that God can bless me. Beauty is all about me I am only one small part of forever falling. Forever healing. Beauty is the Sun. Beauty is the Earth. Beauty is all God's people who Jesus Christ died for. Beauty is 7:00 am going out for a while. Going down town to smoke my pipe won't be back till broad daylight.

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
