So you really think 75% of the public REALLY watched the Senate trial and listened to the President's defence team on making the case why calling more wouldn't make any sense?

It's all over the news. And they aren't inclined to take any excuses. When the defense attorneys frantically do everything they can to exclude evidence and witnesses, one would be pretty stupid not to know why they were doing it.

Mitt Romney disinvited from CPAC 2020

Only the Republicans would disinvite one of their 2 Senators who took the outrageous act of aligning themselves with the position taken by 75% of the American public that a "fair" Impeachment Trial would require documents and witnesses!

Where were you when Schiff had all the witnesses testify in secret, and only allowed them to be asked pre-approved questions? That's what the House did, but the media was fine with it, because Democrats.

As Fox News reported, that's how the system works. The House committee is a grand jury and the court is the Senate. Grand juries open deliberations. That's how it worked when Johnson and Clinton were impeached.

Andrew Napolitano: "Congressman Schiff Is, In My Opinion, Following The Rules Of The House Of Representatives"

Posted By Tim Hains
On Date October 31, 2019

Fox News judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano told the hosts of "FOX & Friends" Thursday morning that House Democrats led by Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff are following the proper process to pursue an impeachment inquiry against President Trump.

...
He said [special prosecutor during the Clinton impeachment] Ken Starr "handed a tremendous amount of evidence to the House Judiciary Committee. How did he generate that evidence? In secret. What did he do? He put witnesses on before a grand jury."

Andrew Napolitano: "Congressman Schiff Is, In My Opinion, Following The Rules Of The House Of Representatives"

and only allowed them to be asked pre-approved questions?

Show us that. Republican committee members asked whatever they liked. One particularly slimy person even questioned the patriotism of a witness who was wounded in Iraq. No, that's just someone's fantasy.

That's what the House did, but the media was fine with it, because Democrats.

See above. Even a Fox News commentator says otherwise.

A man of integrity like Romney has little in common with his cowardly obsequious Republican colleagues. Hopefully when the party is purged of its leader, some of the lost may find their consciences again and, along with new people, rebuild their party which has sink into moral decay. Romney will be waiting.

It's fascinating how quickly--one speech--a man who has been vilified, slandered, and mocked relentlessly by liberals for his views and beliefs becomes their most admired "man of integrity" overnight, isn't it?

And he needn't fret over being disinvited to that conservative conference; he'll be getting invitations and slobbering accolades from other people that he wouldn't have had before.

Although I voted for Obama in 2012, I did not look at Romney as a danger. I disliked the way he earned his fortune. Firms like Bain close many businesses and lay off many workers. I did not like Paul Ryan, although It's interesting to note he is clear eyed about Trump, too.

He was far superior to Trump in every way.

Credit where credit is due. It's not the kind of man he is; it's going against his party when all of his fellow senators were scared to do the right thing.

And he needn't fret over being disinvited to that conservative conference;

Probably won't. He's extremely well-regarded in Utah, a place where even republicans aren't fond of Trump.

Now really...

"all of his fellow senators were scared to do the right thing." Really?

There is no basis for such a claim, although it certainly is what the House Democrats would like everyone to think.

Let's just say he HAD BEEN well-regarded. The evidence is that the bloom is off that rose now. ;)

Now really...

"Really, this was the first impeachment where witnesses and evidence were not permitted in the process." That's right. And we all know why.

"all of his fellow senators were scared to do the right thing." Really?

Yep. The "your head on a pike" wasn't an idle threat. You see the frantic rage Trump has over Romney voting his conscience. And the immediate retaliation against anyone he could get to. More like a mob boss than a president.

There is no basis for such a claim

Everyone knows. There's no point in denying it. You see what is happening to Romney. Trump's organization is going after him. That's the way a crime family operates.

It comes down to history. It won't be kind to those Senators who put their jobs above the nation.

If you don't respect legislators who routinely march lock-step with their party, you couldn't logically be a Democrat

I'm not a democrat. Because of my personal values, I haven't voted in a primary in many years. But I notice that the democrats in the House didn't march in lock-step. Republicans did, though. For reasons everyone understands. It's that "head on a pike" thing.

But republican congresspeople were repeatedly threatened by Trump and his people. In the GOP, that sort of thing is standard operating procedure.

How many Democrats broke ranks, for instance, on that vote to call additional witnesses? That's right...none.

Understandable, seeing as 75% of all Americans opposed covering up witnesses and evidence. Trump has made it clear that republican congressmen are required to serve him, not the American people.

Mitt should just join the other side
and get done with it.

A lot of traditional conservatives are looking around to form a conservative party, but so many conservatives have sold out, there's not enough to do anything weaken the GOP.

This is the real basis for the 2018 blue wave.

I saw some kids creating the blue wave yesterday in a kiddy pool.
That's about as big as it's going to get.

That's what Trump said last time. He told his guys that he was putting his name on the line, and that would be enough to win. They all predicted a red wave:

Remember Benghazi? Republican concerns about "secret" hearings are newfound in the Trump era
GOP
- lawmakers stormed a secure facility on Capitol Hill in protest this week. They seem to have forgotten history

- OCTOBER 24, 2019

Yet Republicans’ concerns about closed-door hearings appear to be newfound in the age of Trump. Republicans strongly defended closed-door interviews when they led a multi-year crusade on Benghazi during the Obama administration.

“The committee’s preference for private interviews over public hearings has been questioned,” former Rep. Trey Gowdy’s Benghazi committee said in its final report. “Interviews are a more efficient and effective means of discovery. Interviews allow witnesses to be questioned in depth by a highly prepared member or staff person. In a hearing, every member of a committee is recognized — usually for five minutes — a procedure which precludes in-depth in-depth focused questioning. Interviews also allow the committee to safeguard the privacy of witnesses who may fear retaliation for cooperating or whose work requires anonymity, such as intelligence community operatives.”

GOP: Closed-door hearings were good under Obama, not Trump
************************************************************************************************************
How quick they forget - Rep. Schiff employed the same procedures that the Republicans followed when they were in the majority and calling witnesses to testify before the House committee concerning Benghazi!

Apparently Republicans only find fault in this process when its one their own being investigated!
