Missouri U.S. Senator Josh Hawley is going after high-tech companies like Facebook and YouTube.

The Republican introduced the Ending Support for Internet Censorship Act, a major update to the way big tech companies are treated under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA).

Sen. Hawley’s legislation removes the immunity big tech companies receive under Section 230 unless they submit to an external audit that proves by clear and convincing evidence that their algorithms and content-removal practices are politically neutral. Sen. Hawley’s legislation does not apply to small and medium-sized tech companies.

Republicans have never proven that so-called "censorship" is not politically neutral, so of course this is a solution in search of a problem.

They don't want to stop "censorship"; they want an unfair advantage where they get to spout hate and not receive any blow back for it.

So what happens if the neutral examiners say that the companies are giving some on the right a pass because they're afraid of the political implications of actual neutral policies?

But the big problem is: how do you pick neutral people? Neutral fact-checking organizations are widely attacked from the right as being biased.

This is by design Their policies, which these days include putting children in concentration camps, can't win honestly, so they work the judges so that they get special treatment as some of them preach hate.

About time.
Now watch "progressives" oppose this with every fiber in their bodies, because it would mean their Thought Police getting cut down to size.
It may come back to bite them on the backside. I see far more pro-Trump and anti-Democrats/liberal material on Facebook than anti-Trump or pro Democrat/liberal memes.

As far as YouTube. It's the other way.
