My vote for the next Roman pope goes to the guy in the middle. He looks more like a "take charge" kinda guy.

Its possible. The various eastern rite patriarchs are part of teh college of cardinals, so theoretically, one could be selected as pope.

The only required vestments, if I am not mistaken, are the white cassock and white head cover. The popes stopped wearing the Papal Tiara with John VI.

If I understand properly, the recent Popes have been emphasizing their universal pastoral role rather than their Supreme Legislative role, which I just mentioned. I suppose the Supreme Legislative role would be underlined by the tiara.
