Hi. So why does the Roman Pope still try to proclaim himself Vicar of Christ to the world?
I see where Monica acknowledged my acceptance of the Roman Pontif's apologies but how come this wasn't addressed?![]()
Hi Monica. I never implied it was a "sin". How about concerning Unifying Christianity under the Banner of CHRIST. Anyway, I am thru with this thread as it is the same merry-go round as all the other Roman catholic vs "them" threads. Adios.Well I don't think that the Pope needs to apologize for proclaiming that he's the Popethat is not a sin, like the other things.
Awesome, I always liked rich!
But was what Jesus said loving? Of coures it was.Sunlover, no that is not true. I never said that what Jesus said was wrong in any way. I just said that ONLY He has the authority and right to say such things...and that we don't. Only He can call someone a hypocrite without becoming a hypocrite Himself.
Sunlover, I agree with you here, if you see a Christian falling away from faith, you should try and help them.
THIS is where you maybe misunderstand me.What I meant is that there is a right and a wrong way to tell them...we should still speak with compassion
I dont know. Hypocrite, liar, whatever, none of thoseWhat I meant in my previous post was that if we see a hypocrite, for example, we can't just come up to them and say "you're a hypocrite and God will judge you..you don't love God".
Good reminder.I think often when we rebuke others we are in danger of falling into sin ourselves...especially pride and anger. That is why I think we should be careful with this, and if we see a brother or sister in sin, we should pray for them first and try to forgive them, and remember our own sinfulness..and only then, speak the truth (with love).
Well, he LOOKS like the pope. He sounds like the pope. I think he's the pope.Hi. So why does the Roman Pope still try to proclaim himself Vicar of Christ to the world?![]()
Close enough for jazzThe Pope does not proclaim himself, he is proclaimed. The Pope is appointed by the magesterium, just as Peter was appointed by Jesus Christ.
Yes. But I think it would be more correct to say that he was chosen from among his peers with the prompting of the Holy Spirit rather that saying he was chosen by the Magisterium, because the Magisterium is the "teaching" authority of the Church.Habemus Papam is the declaration! (We have a Pope)!
You're the one that keeps saying "Judge them by their fruits". Now that the fruits are shown to you, you duck and dodge.
After the US Government, the Catholic Church is the largest health care provider in the US.
This is a result of Catholic culture, and those "Dark Ages" you love to misrepresent.
Christ said people will come shouting that they preached in His name and He will turn them away saying He never knew them because when He was hungry, in prison, and sick, those people ignored His need. He said that others, who took care of the hungry, the sick, the poor, and the imprisoned, would sit on His right side in heaven.
Again - I am not saying that I agree with everything the Catholic Church teaches. If I did, I would just convert.
1 John 4:1
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Therefore, if the Greeks or others should say that they are not confided to Peter and to his successors, they must confess not being the sheep of Christ, since Our Lord says in John 'there is one sheepfold and one shepherd.' We are informed by the texts of the gospels that in this Church and in its power are two swords; namely, the spiritual and the temporal...
Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff.
No terry, once again you are confused about what "fruit" is.
Oh God, give me the grace to not make a joke out of that post....

Are you for real? Seriously though - "stress"? Me? The guy that makes all the jokes, while you're sending everyone to the fiery basement? You're way out dude: Thats the only way I can think of to describe it. You wave your bible around like a battleaxe, then say other people are stressing out. Holy moley.Originally Posted by TraderJack![]()

Please terry, for your own benefit and welfare, please, please, please learn how to read things in context and not through a preconceived, conditioned paradigm. It really will help with genuine learning and reduce stress.
Is it true?"Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff."
