For those persons who believe that the earth will exist for at least 1,000 more years and that Jesus has an actual, literal kingdom on earth: what do you think the earth will be like?

Can earth even survive for 1,000 more years given the problems of global warming, pollution, resource depletion, etc.?

God will teach them.

Isa 54:13 All your sons will be taught by the Lord,
and great will be your children's peace.

Zec 8:20 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come,
Zec 8:21 and the inhabitants of one city will go to another and say, ‘Let us go at once to entreat the Lord and seek the Lord Almighty. I myself am going.’
Zec 8:22 And many peoples and powerful nations will come to Jerusalem to seek the Lord Almighty and to entreat him.”
Zec 8:23 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “In those days ten men from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, ‘Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.’ ”

Isa 2:2 In the last days

the mountain of the Lord's temple will be established
as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills,
and all nations will stream to it.

Isa 2:3 Many peoples will come and say,

“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law will go out from Zion,
the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Isa 2:4 He will judge between the nations
and will settle disputes for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they train for war anymore.

When Jesus returns, he will destroy the destroyers of
the earth (Revelation 11:18c) and make ravaged parts
of the earth like the Garden of Eden (Isaiah 51:3,
Ezekiel 36:35).

Artificial global-warming, pollution, and resource
depletion are all problems created by a technology-
based civilization as opposed to one based on
agriculture and handicrafts, like at Jesus' first
coming. He could take us back to that, so that we
won't spend our days staring at computer screens in
dreary cubicles in high-rise office towers, but
instead will go back to farming and ranching (Isaiah
30:23-25) and sleeping in the woods on warm summer
nights (Ezekiel 34:25).

We'll never go hungry because Jesus will give us a
staple crop, a "plant of renown", to grow in our
fields and end hunger (Ezekiel 34:29).

There will be no unemployment because there will be
no technological machines taking all the jobs away
from people. Instead of a diesel-powered tractor
doing the work of 1000 people in a field, we'll go
back to hand-plowing with horses and oxen, and hand-
harvesting with scythes and songs. Instead of a huge
electric-powered factory loom-machine doing the work
of 1000 people, we'll go back to foot and hand-powered
looms and cloth-makers working at their own pace in
their own homes.

Instead of millions of people living in stinking
hovels in inner cities infested with cockroaches,
drugs, and crime, everyone will get their own parcel
of land out in the countryside to live on and work
on, growing their own food, making their own
handicrafts, trading at the village market for all
that they need.

Instead of everyone stuck at night in front of
glowing blue screens watching froth or filth, with
no one talking to each other, and spending their days
with phones and Ipods stuck into their ears, they'll
actually get to talk to each other at night and read
the Bible out loud and sing hymns and tell stories in
front of the fire until bedtime.

Instead of all the cancer-causing chemicals in
plastics and pesticides and car exhaust, and all the
constant electromagnetic radiation from cellphone
towers and radio-broadcast towers and TV-broadcast
towers and electric power lines, whether strung
overhead or buried right beneath our feet, we'll go
back to making everything that we need out of natural
wood and glass and clay, and building birdhouses in
the fields to attract the birds to eat the bugs, and
using olive oil for lamps and wax candles for light
at night, and anything that electric machines and
combustion engines do for us now, we'll do for
ourselves with our own two hands and feet.

Instead of all the diabetes and heart-attack and
cancer-causing processed foods laden with bleached
flour and sugar and hydrogenated fats and trans fats
and growth hormones and antibiotics and monosodium
glutamate and "BHT added to packaging to preserve
freshness" and sodium benzoate poisoning us to our
very cores, we'll actually go back to eating food the
way God intended for us to eat it: fresh and hearty
right from the garden, field, and farm, completely
natural and free of all added chemicals.

Instead of cramming 10,000 chickens into a little
automated feeding shed lit by one lighbulb so that
they can't see anything and have no room to even move
around, and instead of cramming cattle into huge barns
packed with tiny foul-smelling stalls filled with
their own excrement, they'll actually get set free to
walk across fields of grass and lay down under the
sunny sky, and the chickens will be running freely all
over the place, constantly and happily pecking at the
slightest specks upon the ground.

Instead of our rushing all over the place stressed out
all of the time and working as wage slaves longer and
longer hours for less and less real wages, we'll live
much slower and less stressful lives, working at
manual jobs in our homes and farms at our own pace,
growing crops, milking cattle, collecting eggs,
cutting firewood, boiling clothes, sweeping the house,
making furniture, making cloth, making horseshoes,
making preserves, grape juice, and wine, resting
whenever we please, taking our time with everything,
stopping to chat or nap or just talk a walk through
the woods.

We'll actually live at the pace that God intended us
to live, and we'll sleep soundly every night without
any worries or fears, for we'll have everything that
we need, and we'll be completely safe (Micah 4:4).

And how the environment will groan a sigh of relief.
Over time, it will be able to restore itself naturally
to all of its original purity and splendor.

Our understanding of what God says is limited, and we often (should I say usually) misunderstand. But what He says will happen, will happen.

He says he will reign a thousand years.

But aside from that, the population of the earth will be severely reduced during the period we call "the tribulation." So that will eliminate some of the problem. Most of our polluting habits can be cleaned up with currently available technology. And man made global warming is a fraud.

While ice core sampling indeed showed a direct link between atmospheric carbon and temperature, is EVERY case, the indicators of global temperature changed BEFORE the indicators of atmospheric carbon. That says that changes in global temperature cause changes in atmospheric carbon, not the other way around.

NASA has reported observing global warming on Mars. Man certainly had nothing to do with that.

For the first time, NASA can now provide actual data (not estimates) on global average temperatures. And in the last year, these have fallen enough to wipe out almost a century of Global warming.

Last summer was nearly a record, not for heat, but for coolness, in many American cities.

This fall, record low temperatures were recorded in numerous cities. It had never before been that cold on that date since records had begun to be kept.

The glaciers in Alaska grew this summer, instead of shrinking.

So although it is too soon to be certain, it appears that global warming has already reversed.

Scientists are now blaming the media for spreading the myth of "global warming". What the scientists actually meant (or so they're now saying) is that the planet will undergo "climate change" (i.e., non-specific temperature changes around the globe), rather than "global warming". In other words, scientists are blaming main stream media for coining the term "global warming" when what they really should have been talking about was "climate change", which, of course, the media are now happy to do.

I would just like ask what do we make of these verses in relation to this topic.

2Pe 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2Pe 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
2Pe 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2Pe 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
2Pe 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Some teaching I read points to the fact that the Lord is allowing global warming. The earth is returning back to its' natural state before the fall. It makes sense to me...

Besides God created the earth to always be moving and changing so why should we be suprised at the changes we are seeing. BuT is is necessary to be good stewards of what we have so believers especially should be conscious of some of the ways they can improve the enviroment.

Never say never. Sometimes history does move
backwards in the sense of things not advancing but
regressing. For example, most people see the Dark
Ages which came after the fall of the Roman Empire
as a step backward.

The coming millennium won't involve people going
back to primitive living, as in cave-man times.
People in the millennium could live a more advanced
life than people did in the Dark Ages. The millennium
could take us back to how people lived during the
Roman Empire. If it was good enough for Jesus, it
should be good enough for us.

Living as people lived during the Roman Empire won't
have any real drawbacks; we'll quickly learn how
unnecessary almost all of our modern inventions are,
and how people lived just fine for thousands of years
without them.

And the whole point of this thread is the drawbacks
of our current way of living with regard to its
affect on the environment. We can't fret on the one
hand that the earth will cease to exist because of
the problems of global warming, pollution, resource
depletion, etc., caused by our current way of living,
and then at the same time on the other hand fret
about giving up any of the modern inventions that are
contributing to global warming, and causing pollution,
resource depletion, etc.

Do we care more about the drawbacks of our current
way of living with regard to the health of the
planet, or do we care more about purported drawbacks
of giving up our current way of living with regard
to ourselves?

Do we really want to forget that God will destroy
people for destroying the earth? (Revelation 11:18c).

Global warming isn't a fraud. National Geographic had
an interesting fold-out chart in its October, 2007
issue which showed that CO2 today has reached 380 ppm,
some 100 ppm higher than any previous spikes in CO2
during the last 400,000 years; and that incredible
extra-spike has occurred since the industrial
revolution. So clearly man has made a radical change
to the earth's atmosphere. And CO2 is a greenhouse
gas, meaning that it traps heat from the sun in the
atmosphere. So the incredible extra-spike in CO2 has
to have some affect on the temperature of the earth's
atmosphere, and an increase in the temperature of the
earth's atmosphere has to have some affect on the
temperature of the earth's surface.

Indeed, another chart in the October, 2007 issue of
National Geographic correlates average surface
temperature in the northern hemisphere with CO2 ppm
from 1860 to 2000, and shows them both increasing: CO2
increased from about 290 to 375 ppm, while average
surface temperature in the northern hemisphere
increased from about 57 degrees (F) to about 59.5
degrees (F).

During past periods of natural global warming over the
last 400,000 years, National Geographic's chart says
that temperatures started to rise before CO2 started
to rise, which means that other natural causes besides
CO2 increases can start periods of global warming.
But the chart goes on to say that in the past periods
of global warming when the initial rises in
temperature by natural causes caused natural increases
in CO2, this then caused more global warming due to
the greenhouse effect.

So even if our current period of global warming
and CO2 increase happened to have started by some
natural increase in temperature, our incredibly-high
extra-spike of man-made CO2 ppm-count will make our
current period of global warming all the worse.

---

Global warming doesn't depend on year-to-year readings
of global average temperatures, but on an overall
trend over a long period of time. For National
Geographic's chart which correlates average surface
temperature in the northern hemisphere with CO2 ppm
from 1860 to 2000 shows some wild fluctuations in
temperature from year to year, but an overall trend
of increasing temperature.

So if global average temperature last year was about
the same as a century ago, that doesn't matter with
regard to global warming: what matters is the overall
trend over the last century. For next year could be
hotter than any year in the past century. Indeed,
National Geographic's chart shows that 11 of the
12 hottest years on record all occurred since 1995.

There is no evidence that the overall long-term
trend of global warming has reversed. Going by just
one year's temperature would be like if there was one
unusually cold day in July (in the northern
hemisphere), and someone said: "Oh, I guess this
means that summer is over!"

---

Global warming isn't a myth. Some scientists may
object to that term and prefer "climate change"
instead because of how unevenly different parts of
the globe are warming, and wettening or drying. And
some parts of the globe are even cooling due to deep-
ocean upwellings. But none of this changes the fact
that average global temperatures have risen over
the last century, especially in the last 30 years.

---
---

In 2 Peter 3:10, the day of the Lord is that time
period which will begin at Jesus' second coming
(1 Corinthians 1:7-8) as a thief (Revelation 16:15,
19:11-21), and then continue through the subsequent
millennium (Revelation 20:4-6, cf. 2 Peter 3:8), Gog/
Magog event (Revelation 20:7-10, cf. Ezekiel chapters
38-39) and great white throne judgment (Revelation
20:11-15), for it will be at the great white throne
judgment that heaven and earth will pass away
(Revelation 20:11), and heaven and earth will pass
away in the day of the Lord (2 Peter 3:10).

The heaven that will pass away could simply be the
earth's current atmosphere, the first heaven, the
sky. And the earth that will pass away could simply be
the earth's current surface, which contains all of the
works of man that have to get burned up (2 Peter 3:10),
as opposed to the planet itself, which has to exist
forever (Ecclesiastes 1:4).

But the new surface of the earth will be radically
different than the current one, for the new surface
will not have any oceans (Revelation 21:1), or at
least no more Mediterranean Sea. And if there are
no oceans to serve as heat sinks, the new atmosphere
would have to be radically different if the earth is to
avoid becoming overheated during the day and in summer,
and overcold at night and in winter.

One thing we shouldn't do is think that just because
the Creator will eventually burn up his earth and make
a new one that we creatures have the right to burn it
up and destroy it with man-made greenhouse gases,
pollution, overfishing, wildlife habitat destruction,
etc. We must always remember that the Creator, Jesus
Christ (Colossians 1:16), is coming back to destroy
the people destroying his earth (Revelation 11:18c).

I agree with this. Global warming is a hoax. It was invented by the global elite, Margaret Thatcher in particular, partly as a reaction to the miners strike, and also to blame people for ruining the planet, so making a case that humanity itself is to blame for the damage to their occultic mother-earth - philosophy. If you listen to the TV all the time, there's nothing but 'carbon footprint' all the time, and people suck it all up, without thinking if it's actually true and proven.. But that thing about being back at the plough.. that isn't going to happen.. Adam and Eve didn't slog behing a plough, that was after the fall.. I think the creation will be restored to what it was like before the fall.. a re-creation including all the animals that went extinct after the flood.

Global warming isn't a hoax. Science shows that the
globe has been getting warmer. People are contributing
to this by emitting greenhouse gases like carbon
dioxide into the atmosphere at unnatural rates by
the burning of fossil fuels.

---

One doesn't have to worship an occultic mother-earth
to know that when Jesus returns he's going to destroy
those who are destroying the earth (Revelation 11:18c),
by whatever means.

---

Those who claim that global warming is just propaganda,
and rail against those who accept it without even
questioning, may not have looked at the scientific data
for themselves, but may have accepted some anti-global
warming propaganda, ultimately bankrolled by oil, gas,
and coal companies who want to try to keep the world
addicted to fossil fuels for as long as possible, just
as the tobacco companies in the past managed for so
long to convince people that "there is no scientific
proof of any link between smoking and lung cancer", so
they could keep as many people as possible addicted to
smoking.

---

People will be back at the plough during the coming
millennium (Isaiah 2:4, 61:5, Ezekiel 36:34, Genesis
8:22), but the ploughed earth won't bring forth thorns
(Genesis 3:18), but an abundance of good food (Amos
9:13) for people (Ezekiel 34:29) and for farm and
draft animals (Isaiah 30:23-24).

---

The millennium will still be part of the fall, for
there will still be unsaved people who will rebel
against God during the millennium (Zechariah 14:17-19,
Revelation 2:26-29), just as some unsaved people will
rebel against God after the millennium (Revelation
20:7-10).

---

During the millennium, desolate parts of the earth will
be tilled and cultivated so skillfully, and with such
blessing from God, that they'll become like the Garden
of Eden (Ezekiel 36:34-36, Isaiah 51:3).

---

God's re-creation of the planet, as in the new earth
(Revelation 21:1-4), won't happen until after the
millennium and subsequent events are over (Revelation
20:7-21:4).

The new earth could contain not only all of the animal
species that have gone extinct since the flood (whether
because of human activities or natural causes), but
also all those animal species which had gone extinct
before the flood, even millions of years before. Who
knows? God could even let old T-Rex come back, but to
munch the grass, with the lions, on the new earth, for
on the new earth, like during the millennium
(Isaiah 11:7), God will convert all animals into
vegetarians (Isaiah 65:25). And the new earth could
contain amazing new species of animals (not to mention
plants) which have never existed on the old earth.
