That is quite a remarkable concept if it can be realized. The most ambitious version (using macromolecules) would be the most sensitive GW detector in the gap between the very long frequency GWs detectable with the planned space-based "LISA" detector and the existing long-armed interferometers like LIGO, VIRGO, and KAGRA.

Detection of the current class of objects long before their rapidly shortening periods enter the bandpass of the current detectors. Another interesting possibility is to look for tight binaries of neutron stars and of white dwarfs that might merge in thousands to millions of years.
