Joyce Meyer's teaching helped me a lot for a time. Other than not being familiar with what she's said/written lately, she was great. She was good for self-help types of things, but I wouldn't use her theology as my cornerstone. Another good teacher was Kay Arthur (better for theology). There have to be many by now, since I'm thinking of 15+ years ago.
The command about authority over a man is between the woman and God and those who decide who may have authority over people. If she speaks the Truth, there is nothing wrong with learning from her.
Whether women can be pastors or elders depends on what is meant by "pastor" and "elder"—which has appeared to me to be based on individuals' understanding of the terms. Can a woman help Jesus shepherd younger women? I believe the Lord commanded they do so. If a woman throws you a life preserver when you are drowning, I don't think you need to think about who has thrown the life preserver to choose to use it. If a church member who is a Vice-President of Finance for a non-profit makes a suggestion to your church about finances, does it even matter if they have the label "elder" or not?
Nothing wrong with eating from a table when you are hungry.
Ha! I like this and agree. God speaks through children, unbelievers, and thunder, too, for those who can recognize his Word.
She says we are little gods and that she is sinless is this true?
Yes and no. It is true about who we are
in Christ, but no one alive
fully has the power that comes with that. This is an act "as you really are" issue (1 Corinthians 5:7). Her statement is true of who we really are, but it is an ongoing fight to behave that way. God grants us more transformation into that reality as we abide in Him and fight to behave as we really are
in Christ. We still have a sinful nature and what we do is tainted with sin. The Truth of that is that we still sometimes sin (James 3:2).
If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. (1 John 1:10, 1984 NIV)
