Is this thread about a political bias in media...

...or a media bias in politics?

Yes, there is a media bias in politics, in that too many politicians play to the media and reduce serious, complex political issues to points that sound good as media soundbites.

I say it goes both ways, there is political bias in the media, and there is also media bias in politics. Trump has found the political bias in the media so toxic that he no longer invites Big Three to the weekly white house briefings nor did he attend the media dinner party held at the while house.

Of course there is bias in the media.

Here is an experiment for all to try. Whenever there is a news story, that on the surface would be considered either a positive or negative for either party, watch all of the news outlets and observe how they report the stories; how much time they spend on the story, who they have on as guests to discuss the stories, which facts of the story they emphasize and which facts they minimize.

It is really interesting, if you have the discipline to do it.

There had always been bias in media before, virulently so. Going into WWII, every educated person knew he needed to read several different newspapers to get the whole story. News articles in even the major newspapers were incredibly partisan.

The idea of politically impartial news came out of WWII, nearly entirely on the shoulders of Edgar R Murrow. But it didn't live too much longer than Murrow did, and was entering twilight by the end of the 60s.
