What do you think, may we study another religions and secular philosophy?
Yes. The Bible says to "beware of vain philosophies", but in order to beware of something, you must first be aware of it.

Are we "allowed"? Certainly.

Is it profitable? Maybe.

Is it wise? Depends on the individual.

One who teaches or works in missions is well-served in knowing, and thus able to give better answers regarding his own faith.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, one who is young in the faith (and especially if they are very young in years as well) and simply curious is probably much better off to avoid studying such things at that stage. Some have managed to shipwreck their faith ...

Christianity is a religion, not a philosophy. In that respect, it is distinct from many Asian religions which are often philosophies seeking religions. I beg to differ with the neo-Reformed types who insist there is a uniquely "Christian" philosophy.

So yeah, I think studying philosophy is profitable. I'm fond of phenomenology and Heidegger.

I took a two-weekend course on Wicca a couple years ago. Taught by a Wiccan priestess. I learned a great deal. I took it because I was giving a lecture on American witchcraft trials and I wanted to learn more about witchcraft.

I was one of two Christians in the class. I still keep in touch with several of my Wiccan classmates.
