It is already hot in May in parts of the South. But this is prime time for the north.

Northerners should be ready with a to-do list so that, whenever they get a chance, they can get their gardening work done. Spring is often a pitifully short season: Some years, in some regions, parts of May are hot enough to feel like summer. Perform all necessary gardening tasks before it gets too hot to work outdoors comfortably.

Got my tomatoes and everything else planted. No tomatoes but I have a few blossoms. :) I can’t wait to eat my Sun Sugars!

I have Goliath planted, not sure if it is the heirloom or the Hybird.. I bought a few years ago two Goliath plants and have saved the seeds from those two plants.

I have tomatoes planted, some green ones the size of a quarter are hiding among the leaves. I need to get some netting to put over them so I can get to them before the birds and squirrels. Have squash planted and blooming. Planted okra last week and its coming up. I think I waited too long to plant beans, but our yard is too small to have a lot. Might stick some somewhere and see what happens.

The article seems way off to me.

The Zucchinis are about 4 feet tall and when the current gloom and grey lifts I expect to be searching for homes for the squash. The Vegetable spaghetti is acting like an invading army. The Tomatoes are far behind schedule, only about 2 feet tall. But growing fast.

Yet the article says now is the time to plant them all in my area.

I think the zuchs are doing so well because of the heavy rains this year. At the time I transplanted them the water table was at about a foot and not just sort of muddy, real water that prevented digging deeper.

I found my little strip of plastic label, that identifies the type of plant it is a Goliath F1 hybrid VFFNTASt tomato.

But i have saved the seeds the last 4 years so theplants are now a F4 not sure how much longer till they may be considered a Heirloom.
