Peace to those who may read.

Those who are “overseers” of the church of God....in the figurative language of Matthew 24, those who are upon the “housetop”…are to RENOUNCE the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness nor be handling the Word of God deceitfully. They are to stop the taking of the “silver, gold or apparel” from those they are “preaching” to. We are to hear the manifestation of the Truth to our hearing ears and cease "stealing".

2 Corinthians 4:2 ….How do we “commend ourselves to EVERY man’s conscience in the sight of God”?

By working with our own hands to support our own earthly necessities by which the outside world (their weak conscience) will not have an opportunity to speak evil of those who are preaching. We support the “weak” (the weak conscience) of those of the world when we work with our own hands to support ourselves rather than take from the congregations we are “preaching” to. They see us working with our own hands and will not have an opportunity to speak evil.

2 Corinthians 4:1-2 KJV
(1) Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
(2) But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

Those who are on the “housetop” MUST have a good report of them which are outside the church….the outside world…lest he FALL into reproach and the trap of the devil. The outside world will respect us if we work with our own hands to support our own necessities rather than making merchandise of the sheep that we are supposed to be feeding with the Word of Truth.

1 Timothy 3:7 KJV
(7) Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Again, let him which is on the “housetop”…at the pinnacle of the temple….the overseer of the church…not come down to “take” anything out of His (God’s) house. They are to stop “stealing” from those that they are “preaching” to and work with their own hands to support themselves.

Once we know what the “abomination of desolation” is (covetousness), we are to cease from these activities by renouncing the hidden things of dishonesty….no longer handling the Word of God deceitfully in order to get our earthly things (what to eat, what to drink, what to wear) met from those we “preach” to.

Covetousness should not be named once among us as becoming saints. (Ephesians 5:3) If we destroy the temple of God by what we are preaching deceptively, we are also being destroyed. The desolator of the church is himself being destroyed.

We are to "see"...UNDERSTAND with the "eyes of our understanding" opened...that the abomination of desolation is covetousness. It should not be once named among us as becoming saints. We must FLEE from covetousness.

Matthew 24:15 KJV
(15) When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand)

As a man of God, we are to flee from these things and flee into the “mountains” of His righteousness where God’s faithfulness reaches unto the clouds. He is faithful and will forgive us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. His thoughts and ways are higher than our own.

Matthew 24:16-19 KJV
(16) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

Those who are on the “housetop” of the church….the pinnacle of the temple….the “overseer”…is to stop covetously taking things out of the church whom he is supposed to be feeding with the Word of Truth and not making merchandise of the sheep.

(17) Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

Once we understand what the “abomination of desolation” is (covetousness), we are to no longer use feigned words to deceive others in the churches of men in order to get gain. We are to no longer use flattery as a “cloak” for our hidden covetousness (the abomination of desolation). Let us not "return back" to using flattery....to using feigned words through the hidden covetousness within the heart. We are God's "field" whom we are fellow workers with. We must not be taking advantage of those we are supposedly feeding.

(18) Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

But not every pastor (him who is on the “housetop”) will hear and believe as some will be tempted to speak evil in their wrath…just as the covetous Pharisees derided Jesus for saying that no one can serve God AND mammon. See Luke 16:14.

“Woe unto them that are with child”!

(19) And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

This is figurative language in Matthew 24. Those who are “with child” are those who will hear what the abomination of desolation is in the hearing of the Word of Truth and will become full of wrath within their hearts. The covetous pastors of the churches will be tempted to speak evil when they hear the Word of Truth. Let us not follow after their evil example when the time comes but follow after His righteousness.

James 1:13-18 KJV
(13) Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed.

(14) But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Woe unto them that are with “child”….as lust (envy, strife, wrath, contentions in defense of covetousness) conceives. When lust has conceived within the heart, it brings forth the “child” SIN.

“Woe unto them that give suck in those days”….as the “child” sin is nourished until it is full grown and brings forth death.

Men will hear and become full of wrath in their hearts and will seek to defend their covetousness with evil speaking (giving “birth” to sin). They will nourish that sin until it is full grown...feeding it. There will be no more sacrifice for willful sin when they are warned.

(15) Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Do not err. We must hear what the Spirit is saying from above sent from the Father of lights. Of His own will does He beget us with the Word of Truth so that we should be a kind of first fruits of His creatures. We hear His voice and bring forth fruits of righteousness towards what we hear.

(16) Do not err, my beloved brethren.
(17) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
(18) Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Those who will hear the good Word of God are to bring forth the fruits of righteousness and not bear forth "thorns and briers"....speaking evil words in their wrath of what they hear. Woe unto those who are "with child"...sin in their hearts as they are tempted to speak evil in their wrath.

Hebrews 6:4-10 KJV
(4) For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
(5) And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
(6) If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
(7) For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
(8) But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.
(9) But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
(10) For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

The abomination of desolation is found where it should not be found…..inside the temple…that is, in the Father’s house. “Take these things hence; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise.”

It should not be found in the holy place….among us as becoming saints. WE are His temple.

Again, those who are on the “housetop” (the pastor at the pinnacle of the temple…the overseer of the church of God) are not to come down and take anything out of His house (the Father’s house) once they have had the eyes of their understanding opened and see it (the covetousness) within their lives or the lives of those that they are sitting with in their churches. They must CEASE from their covetous and covetous practices once they have had the eyes of their understanding enlightened to the Truth.

It is an UNDERSTANDING of it. It is already in our presence (where it should not be) but we only have to have the eyes of our understanding opened by Him to see it among us.

Matthew 24:15-17 KJV
(15) When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand)

AFTER WE HAVE UNDERSTOOD it and "see" it among us, THEN let us FLEE to the mountains of His righteousness. We are to flee the covetousness....whether it be in our own hearts or the hearts of those who we are sitting with.

(16) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
(17) Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

What we are to focus on today is the “temple of His body”….the church. WE ARE HIS TEMPLE TODAY.

Yet, we still find men today still selling and buying in the temple…the temple of His body…. which is being made desolate because of the hidden-in-the-heart covetousness of men. They use flattery to hide the covetousness within them…..just as the Pharisees were white-washed outside but inside were FULL of iniquity.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 KJV
(16) Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
(17) If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Those who are defiling the temple are still being “overthrown” today by Him as those who are destroying the temple are being cast out themselves. Jesus BEGAN to cast them out 2000 years agos and still is.

No mortal flesh is being saved in the churches of men as they are given over to the destruction of the mortal flesh because of the covetousness inside the temple of His body where it should not be found. Jesus does not let any man carry any “vessel” (the earthen vessel….the mortal body) through the temple that has the abomination of desolation inside it.

Beware of covetousness. We must not sit together with those who are called “brothers” but are covetous….or we perish along with them. We become ONE FLESH with them in their destruction just by being connected with them. We must come out from among them and be SEPARATE.

Mark 11:15-17 KJV
(15) And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
(16) And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple
.

The “money changers” are exchanging the glory of the Lord that is due Him from all nations for money (the image). His house is supposed to be called of ALL nations the “house of prayer” but instead it is made a “den of thieves” and all nations are speaking evil of us and of His Holy Name. His Name is being blasphemed by all nations rather than being glorified because of the preaching for money they see going on inside the churches of covetous men.

(17) And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

Professing themselves as “wise”, they became fools…..

Romans 1:21-25 KJV
(21) Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
(22) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

….as the “moneychangers” are exchanging the glory of the incorruptible God (as ALL NATIONS are to glorify Him through us) for the image made like corruptible man (MONEY which has the image of man upon it).

They exchange the glory that is due Him for money that has the image of man upon it and “birds”…..doves….selling “peace, peace” where there is none. They use feigned words…the “birds”…to exchange the glory that is due God from all nations of this world for money’s sake. And like Judas, they do not care what the world says about His Holy Name as they continue to do it.

They exchange the glory that is due Him for “four-footed beasts”….sheep. Through covetousness they use feigned words (the “birds”….peace, peace) as they make merchandise of the sheep (His people) in the temple….and the outside world readily sees these and blasphemes His Holy Name rather than glorify Him who is in Heaven.

They exchange the glory that is due Him from ALL nations for the “creeping things”…..as they are minding earthly things: what to feed their belly (their earthly appetites) that is upon the earth.

His Holy Name is being blasphemed rather than being glorified because of these things…the covetous pursuit of earthly things going on inside the Father’s house .

(23) And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

We must not sit in their churches with those who are making the Father’s house a house of merchandise as we perish along with them (dishonoring our own mortal bodies with them). They defile the flesh.... our mortal flesh...by sitting with them.

(24) Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
(25) Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Their understanding is darkened as they do not have any knowledge of the Scriptures because of these things…..the covetous pursuit of the earthly things (going on inside the church where it should not be) just like the rest of the nations of this world.

The Word of Truth is not being taught with knowledge as there is a severe “famine” inside the churches of men. God gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts as they themselves stubbornly persist to give themselves over to work all uncleanness with greediness.

Ephesians 4:17-23 KJV
(17) This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
(18) Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
(19) Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

(20) But ye have not so learned Christ;
(21) If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jes
us:

There IS FORGIVENESS. We must hear His voice and put off the former behavior of the old man which is being ruined according to the deceitful lusts of men who are covetously exchanging the glory of God for money’s sake inside the temple of His body.

(22) That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
(23) And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

We are to put away the lying going on….the deceitful flattery spoken in order to get money from those we are deceiving. Let those who are in the “field” NOT RETURN to his flattery….the use of feigned words….the “cloak of covetousness” which hides the covetousness within our hearts.

We are His house...His temple….and we are members one of another. We are not there to seek our own wealth.

Ephesians 4:25-28 KJV
(25) Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

Let us hear what the Spirit is saying and not become angry and sin….speak evil of what we hear. Woe unto those who are “with child”….sin inside their hearts that is ready to be “born” by speaking it. Let not the sun (the rising Light within our once darkened hearts when we hear His voice) go down upon our wrath.

(26) Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Do not “fall down and worship” the devil by speaking evil of what we hear the Spirit saying but rather worship and serve God in our speech.

(27) Neither give place to the devil.

Let him that stole steal no more. The pastor MUST labor…work with his own hands…. for his own earthly necessities so that he may truly understand the Scriptures and be able to truly feed His sheep.

(28) Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

Let us hear and not become angry as Cain once did.

Genesis 4:5-9 KJV
(5) But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
(6) And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

If we put off the old man, we shall be accepted. If we do well towards His voice, we shall be accepted. If we do not well, sin lies at the door of our mouths. We are in danger if we become full of wrath in our hearts. We are in danger of speaking evil. We must rule over the wrath…the sin that wants to come out of our mouths once we hear the Spirit of Truth.

(7) If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Let us not “kill the messenger” by speaking evil of our brothers sent to speak His Word of Truth in the “field”. “Cain”…. meaning “spear”…. killed “Abel”…. meaning “empty, vain”. Let us not call our brothers “raca” (meaning “empty one”….empty of knowledge) and “fool” who are sent to speak His words to our hearing ears. Let us not "kill the messenger" with the "spear" of our tongues by calling them "fools".

(8) And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
(9) And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

Thought: I find interesting parallels with housetops and those who may or may not sit on top of them. Peter was caught up in trances while on top of one. And Jesus spoke of those atop of them here too.

Question: Is sitting on top of houses common in Israel right now? I've lived in America my entire life, and I can safely say that this is not a common practice in the states. I was just wondering if this is a practice in Israel or other parts of the world today?

P.S. I don't mean to derail your thread, OP. I was just curious.

Those who are on the “housetops” are the preachers of His Word. They are the "overseers" of the church. What they hear the Lord saying (the interpretation of the Scriptures….the “dark sayings of old”), they are to speak in the Light.

Matthew 10:26-27 KJV
(26) Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
(27) What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

Speak what He says in the "darkness"....the interpretation of the "dark sayings of old"...if they would only give ear and DO His commandments...

Psalms 78:1-3 KJV
(1) Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
(2) I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
(3) Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.

A preacher must not be given to covetousness. But what do we find today? Everyone is given to covetousness…..from the least of them to the greatest of them. EVERY ONE deals falsely. They preach for money's sake in order to get their earthly needs met from the churches that they are "preaching" to.

Jeremiah 6:13-14 KJV
(13) For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

We find the many false prophets preaching “peace, peace” when there is no peace in their churches.

(14) They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

We find that they do not understand the Scriptures as their understanding has been darkened because of their covetousness. They...the false prophets... cry “peace” to those who put food in their mouths.

Micah 3:5-12 KJV
(5) Thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.

Yet, those who do can not understand the Scriptures as their understanding has been darkened…. “night shall be unto you…”

(6) Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.
(7) Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God.
(8) But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.
(9) Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.
(10) They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniqui
ty.

Night shall be unto them as they judge for reward and teach for hire and divine for money…

(11) The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.
(12) Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.

Matthew 24:42-46 KJV
(42) Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
(43) But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
(44) Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
(45) Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
(46) Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

As one who is on the “housetop”, the preacher must hear what the Spirit of Truth is saying and renounce the hidden things of dishonesty….the covetousness hidden within the heart by flattering words. He must not handle the Word of God deceitfully for his own unjust gain. He must work with his own hands to support his own earthly necessities (what to eat, what to drink, what to wear) so that the outside world will not have an opportunity to blaspheme His Holy Name.

2 Corinthians 4:1-5 KJV
(1) Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
(2) But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

But if the good news is hid, it is hid to those who are “lost” (perishing) and are preaching themselves. Their minds are blinded to the glorious good news of Christ. They preach it but do not truly understand it.

(3) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
(4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
(5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

Their end is destruction from this earth as their “god” is their belly and their glory is in their shame as they mind earthly things (preaching in covetousness to get their earthly needs met).

Philippians 3:18-19 KJV
(18) (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
(19) Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

We must seek the kingdom of God first and His righteousness and not seek after the earthly things in the church. The nations of the world seek after these things only. The “god” of this world is their belly of which they seek to feed only. We must not be like them by serving for our own belly to feed.

Luke 12:29-31 KJV
(29) And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
(30) For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

(31) But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you
.

If we walk as the outside nations walk (seeking…preaching…coveting… after earthly things in the church), then our understanding is darkened (night shall be unto those who do such things). We shall not understand the good news. We shall not understand the Scriptures.

Ephesians 4:17-21 KJV
(17) This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
(18) Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
(19) Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
(20) But ye have not so learned Christ;
(21) If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

We must not sit together in the churches with those who are called “brother” but are covetous. We must abstain from “fornication”.

1 Thessalonians 4:2-12 KJV
(2) For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
(3) For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
(4) That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
(5) Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

We must not be defrauding our brothers.

(6) That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
(7) For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
(8) He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
(9) But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
(10) And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;

Instead, we must do our own business and work with our own hands to support our own earthly necessities and not defraud our brothers by making merchandise of them in the church.

(11) And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

If the preachers work with their own hands to support our own earthly necessities, then they shall have lack of nothing (what to eat, what to drink, what to wear) as God shall add all these things to them. They will then be walking honestly toward them that are without the church. The outside world shall have no reason to speak evil of them nor of the Name of God.

(12) That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

The Lord calls us and we must hear the call and immediately leave off the preaching for gifts and follow Him. We must leave off our father “Zebedee” (meaning “GIFT”)…the preaching for gifts….and follow Him. We must go after Him and leave the “ship” and the other HIRED servants who are in the same boat preaching for pay with their covetous teachings….their “nets”.

Mark 1:19-20 KJV
(19) And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.
(20) And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.
