Masturbation... is it wrong?

Sorry, we've kind of progressed from the "you need to be ashamed of anything sexual" ideology. I'm a little entertained by the thinking that all sexual matters should not be discussed under any circumstance. Like supressing sexual urges and keeping sexuality related knowledge from teenagers and adults is going to do any good.

Can any of the anti-masturbators conclusively prove that masturbation is bad? I mean, stuff like "this study shows that people that started masturbating in their teens now are rapists" or whatever. People in this thread are proclaiming how masturbation is absolutely terrible, but I haven't seen any proof. I haven't seen people's relationships turn to ruins, I haven't seen people who touch become sex-crazed freaks, or anything remotely like that all.

However, I have seen many christians feel guilty and shameful about it and continue to struggle. If they keep struggling and do not get better, then maybe the advice is wrong?

If teens were given facts and the opportunity to understand their own bodies rather than have platitudes thrown at them there would be far less teens with kids of their own.

There is NO CORRELATION WHATSOEVER between knowledge and promiscuity. In fact, ignorance is far more culpable than anything else. How you can even possible get from:

If you have never done it and find touching your private parts disturbing... perhaps this isn't the best debate for you? Oh, and don't freak out when you have kids and find your toddler playing with himself. He isn't 'lusting'.

One of the most disturbing threads I've read was the sex questions where a woman wanted to know how best to punish her 2 year old toodler for touching themself.

I have a question...

I guess some people find masturbation to be a terrible thing for teen-agers, never mind the fact that this is when hormones are raging and it beats having sex wrecklessly.

A lot of people think it should be saved for marriage (sex, that is). What about the person who doesn't find anyone to marry? What about the person whose partner refuses sex? What about the person who is divorced? Are people supposed to go through life without experiencing their sexuality at all?

I guess my question is really directed at fundamentalist Christians, but all viewpoints are welcome.

Actually touching ones self at such a young age is normal wanting to know about their body, nothing wrong with that as long as the parents keep him/her from experience with things that are wrong later on in life, like sex itself.

i agree, just knowing outside of marriage it is wrong, and that it leads to bad consequences is enough.

The rest should be learnt behind closed doors on the honeymoon of newlyweds.

The reality is some people will never find someone to marry, and some people don't want to marry someone that's not right. And some people marry someone they think is right, then discover the person they married isn't interested in sex. And some people get divorced. Life is not always so black and white, and sex is a DRIVE and a healthy drive when dealt with appropriately. For some people, masturbation is preferable being with another person, due to STDs, etc.

I am one who believes in a true love. In a true love relation ship, their will be no divorces. One person will try to make the other one happy, no matter what they desire (as long as it is ok for them to have what they desire). And if God did not want you to get married, you probally do not have a very big sex drive.

As i said, i am someone who believes in true love, for i know it exist, but in such a way i cannot show it to others. (besides for the true love God has for all of us, but im refering between two people). Sin nature messes up the picture so many times though.

Ok, my agrument comes out of Genesis 3, where it say God made sex to be shared between a married man and woman. Now, touching yourself is enjoying a part of sex outside of marriage, which is like tell God that the reason he created sex is not Good enough.

part two come form Exodus 20 and Mathew (cant remember chapter.)

Masturbation is almost always connected to lust.

Jesus says that if you lust after a women, it is like comitting adutery with her.

Exodus say that adutery is a sin.

Now for the people who do not lust when they touch????

Part two, you can firmly state that there is no absolute truth.
