Not being vaccinated is not against the law. So no lawsuits are possible. The cruise line has a policy of full vaccination only. Those without records can access a website that might have state registry records. 5% on the ship were not vaccinated.

Who said 5% on the ship were not vaccinated? You really think 5% of thousands of people falsified their records to go on a cruise? Really? That's a lot of people. That's a lot of older people. Everyone had to be vaccinated to go on that cruise!

Have you been ignoring the data around the world? Almost every country on the planet is saying Omicron is much more prevalent than Delta. In a couple of weeks it should be almost all infections. We just should focus on the deaths because so far, they are not increasing much yet infection rates are skyrocketing. This means herd immunity should arrive much sooner than expected. Because so many are getting infected some will die, its inevitable. But they are on the edge anyway and probably would have died soon from other causes. Sort of like dying from a cold when you're teetering on the edge with other problems. Just the way the body works. The bigger picture looks fantastic. We now see a light at the end of this very long tunnel. That light should get a lot brighter by late winter. We may be mask/restriction/vax free by the spring.

My issue was with her statement that it greatly affects vaccinated more than unvaccinated, which is patently false.

Say 99.9% of the population is vaccinated and its spreading. That means that 999 out of 1000 people are vaccinated. Guess who is going to be the most infected? People are not taking into account the high rate of vaccination. Also that vaccination isn't supposed to totally stop infection. Just the worst outcomes of infection.

Remember people, infections don't matter when it comes to overall statistics. Serious situations and death matters. But we need to be concerned with our exposure to compromised people and those in poor health. Unfortunately that's a large segment of the population. Politicians are being cautious as they should. Sure the hospitalizations and deaths in South Africa are much lower with Omicron. We can only hope. But keep in mind that in South Africa the average age is a lot younger than in most western countries. But so far the numbers in the west look great. The best thing that could happen is everyone gets exposed and builds natural immunity (whether vaxxed or not) and this protects us in the future. Unless we get a much worse variant which is entirely possible. They expect a revision of the vaccine in March but in a few weeks, if numbers decline and hospitalizations are much less, they won't need it. We can only hope and pray. Omicron could be our saving grace.

All respiratory illnesses including the common cold are dangerous to the compromised and elderly. I wonder if over the past 20 years you ran around telling everyone to mask up and get every possible vaccination and social distance and self isolate to protect the compromised people and those in poor health.

To be fair Covid is no common cold. I don't ever remember the common cold wiping out several members of one family living together. Do you? I don't see the common cold overwhelming hospitals either. But doctors report this all over the world. Maybe they're lying. Maybe they're all conspiring together in some massive, sinister plot. Yeah, that's it. Now we know.

I see a lot of conspiracists refusing to accept data from around the world. As if poor people in India are going to lie to a news crew and make up stories. And China. And so many other countries.

This has got to be the strangest thing you could ever say about this problem. I don't know anyone that died from electrical appliances falling into their bath and electrocuting them but that doesn't mean I'm not careful with electrical devices around the bath. You either believe data or you don't. You don't. You're in your own world of make believe. For people like you its got nothing to do with health as many conspiracists are perfectly willing to take all kinds of drugs (with dangers and side effects) if they get infected. Its all about the twisted view of authority. If the government advises you to do anything you will instinctively push back. Like a pre-teen rebelling against sensible parental authority and guidance.

I'm not saying to implicitly trust government. But to automatically not believe them doesn't make sense.

Omicron is much milder and could help us reach herd immunity much faster. The problem that worries the medical field is that even if its milder it will still kill a lot of people because many are vulnerable because of poor health, other health problems and unending antibiotic use and Omicron spreads so easily. But you don't care about facts.
