Whites do in fact face discrimination. Every AA program is discrimination. Every call for diversity is a call for discrimination. Every elite college practices discrimination, for social engineering. Every big business practices discrimination, ironically, as a defense against accusations of discrimination (by blacks).

Given the undeniable fact of widespread discrimination against whites, how can anyone deny whites face discrimination? The Left has become a master at turning the truth upside down. They want you to focus on the number of, say, white presidents or white CEOs, and make the predominance of whites there proof of white preferences and discrimination against blacks. That Leftist tactic is itself racist and dishonest. Racial discrimination happens on an individual basis. A white student bumped from a college admissions because of race is discrimination, it doesn't matter if the head of the college is white.

The most specific forms they refer to are discrimination in favor of non-whites in things like college admissions and job hiring and promotion. So unless affirmative action and corporate "diversity initiatives" have stopped being a thing, maybe there's something there.
I was just in a meeting yesterday where they mentioned a program regarding hiring where they want to focus on minority and female candidates. All us white guys in the room kept our poker faces. ;)

As a white man I've most definitely been discriminated against, both due to my race and sex. But I don't whine about it. I'm an adult. I don't expect perfection from others, nor myself.

I'm curious to see whether you would tell blacks and women to "be an adult" and stop whining about discrimination.

If you would, then I can say that I sincerely respect your position for its consistency. I also think that such a viewpoint is key to getting past all of this obsession the country has with race and sex.

But if you wouldn't, your comment strikes me as worthless virtue signalling intended to show how much of a bigger man you are than everyone else. I want to stress though, that's conditional on you not applying your belief consistently.

If it were a meritocracy, African Americans and Hispanics would also do better. The thing is, it's never been a meritocracy and that has hurt everyone who is not part of the privileged majority group.
Well, blacks do fine in football and basketball. So you have a point.

Depends on the kind of discrimination. I'm in IT. People are hired on merit for the most part. And to be blunt, if you are black and try to enter that field, you can write your own ticket for just the reason I mentioned in my second post.

Let me guess, you were mad when you read about the #MeToo campaign.

Is that a twitter hastag? I'm not pathetic enough to let my life run be run by such things, so I'm afraid I'm not familiar with this particular campaign.

And regarding discrimination by cops, it is a real thing. When I lived in Seattle a few decades ago, the cops pulled over a car full of black teenagers in the inner city because, well, they were a carload of black teenagers. Problem was, one of them was the mayor's son. ;)

But I will add that when I was a teenager, I also got pulled over with a bunch of my friends in the car (all white) because, well, we were a carload of teenaged boys. The cops profile all the time. It works.

But when I see a video of an "unarmed" black man getting shot by the cops, there is one thing I always notice: The "black guy" is doing things I'd have to be insane to do around the cops. And in the cases where they are not, the cops are so in the wrong that the story flops because the cop gets whats coming to him.

Oh, and we are up to 12 cases of unarmed black men being shot by cops this year. Twelve. And of those, I don't know how many were caught doing criminal activity but without a gun.

Discrimination based on race is wrong, but stereotyping might just save your life.

My wife is mad about the #metoo campaign. She understands men and women very well and basically said that unless a woman is the ugliest creature, human or not, to ever walk the earth, every single woman could say #metoo.

Based on the broad definition of harassment used to identify #metoo, it simply describes the human condition. And most feminine women would have it no other way.

I am pretty sure most women do not want coworkers rubbing their genitals against them or be propositioned to get ahead in work. I'm quite sure that most women do not like being groped at parties or having men follow them when they hop off a train or bus. I'm quite sure that most women do not like to be cursed at or in the worst cases shot and killed simply because they were not interested in a man.

This is a poor case of claimnig you received the same kind of treatment when there have been countless studies and DOJ reports that show that everyone is not targeted equally. Stereotyping groups based on skin color does not save lives. You were stopped by the police once, but that does not invalidate the empirical evidence that shows African Americans being targeted at higher rates with no increase in outcomes (i.e., convictions). The reason why there is no increase in outcomes for things like stop and frisk and stop black motorists is because skin color is a not an indicator of criminal activity.

I don't get that thinking. Black people can go to school. So no discrimination. But they also get kicked to the places with horrible education. And people seem to think of black people. As thugs. Especially on this forum.

In general, no. If they act like thugs, regardless of skin color, they may be thought of as thugs. The problem with "discrimination" is when those of color automatically assume that even if they're acting like thugs, the label comes only because of their skin color. Plus, it's easier to cry "Racism" or "Discrimination" because it shifts the focus away from themselves and their own actions that earned them the label.

That has been pretty interesting, due to the number of progressive, male feminists that have been outed for being harassers (or worse).

Actually, the key phrase in my post was that they have so broadened the meaning of "sexual harassment" to where normal male female interaction is included in the mix.

So, my wife agrees with everything you said, but she notes that a lot of what you didn't say is also considered covered under #metoo but most feminine women welcome it.

I've worked in office spaces of 17 companies in my career. I've noticed, via the way they carry themselves, that there are four types of people in the office:
1. Men that see themselves as human beings.
2. Women that see themselves as human beings.
3. Men that see themselves as male human beings.
4. Women that see themselves as female human beings.

You can tell by the way they walk, talk, dress, etc. Every member of group 2 can post a #metoo. SOME members of 4 can post a #metoo, especially if they experienced what you listed.

I'm one of the men who sees himself as male. I often say that if I want to get in touch with my feminine side, I reach for my wife. And my wife reciprocates.

Or you could simply refer to the law, not waste time trying to figure out what dictionary you want to use.

So if it is legal to discriminate against whites then it is actually not discrimination at all!

Or perhaps it is the tip of the iceberg of the worst sort of discrimination.

Actually, it does. I was just talking yesterday with a man I work with that talked about being pulled over by the cops when he was a young man. He and a few of his white friends (he is also white) were lost and ended up in one of those predominantly black Chicago neighborhoods. They were pulled over by the cops and asked what they were doing there. After an explanation, the cops told them that it was not safe and they escorted them out of the neighborhood to safety.

Sounds like the cops were familiar with the neighborhood as being one where white people are attacked for being white.
