Astrophysicists predict superheated gases might destroy this planet in 50 million years, if something else does not destroy it first. This world is temporary.
This hot 'stream' of star gas will collide with our galaxy sooner than we thought

2 Peter 3:10 (WEB) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness, 12 looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

Awesome! Nature is incredible.

Thankfully our species will be interplanetary by then, or maybe even further afield. With how much we've advanced in the past 50 years it'll be amazing to see what 50 million years will do for progress.

Neither the pop-sci article you linked to, nor the journal article say anything of the sort about the Earth.

What they do say is that the Magellanic stream is closer to the main part of the Milky Way (our Galaxy) than previously thought and it will strike *the Galaxy* (not the Earth) sooner, dumping gas that will form new stars.

50 million years

Heh. Our translations of verse 12 vary and I just noticed this yesterday for the first time:

(NIV)
12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.

(KJV)
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

If it's still 50 million years away, we need to step up our game a bit lol

Not to worry, the black holes will suck it all up before it gets to us.

The stream is already at the edge of the Milky Way galaxy:

Yeah, so what.

What is the density of the stream? (I'll give you a hint: it's about 1. 1 atom/cubic centimeter. There aren't any vacuums that good on Earth at all.)

Now I remember the sun might change into a red giant overheating the earth and making it devoid of water:

True, but irrelevant to the OP.

True, but irrelevant to the OP.
Part of the OP was to point out the earth’s timeline is finite, not infinite. If you want perfection, seek Christ. This world is passing.

Jesus said:
John 6:63 (NIV) The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.

Nope, the published paper doesn't mention the Earth, and the article only says we'll see a different-looking night sky.
From 2 Peter 3:8 “But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.“

You will not be around to look at the night sky in 50 million years, will you?

Not in the lifetime of anyone alive now. The finite lifetime of the Earth (to be habitable) is on the order of hundreds of millions of years. The extraneous religious bits are irrelevant to either that fact or this sub forum.

I tend to believe if it's not nuclear type weapons used, the sun itself or God will cause it to go supernova. I seriously doubt it would be another 50 million years before Christ returns. However the destruction to this solar system / heaven occur - Jesus said in his Father's house are many mansions (Galaxies)-(heavens) (universes) he goes to prepare a place that where he is we may be also.
